Gun group skims the best 100 guns off the top of Cleveland buyback

At a gun buyback held last Saturday in Cleveland that purchased nearly 400 firearms, a local gun group was able to get to the best hundred first. The group, Ohio Carry, set up near the buyback organized by the Cleveland Police and offered cash for guns. This was a stark contrast to the gift certificates and tickets to minor league hockey games up for grabs at the police event. The results were that Ohio Carry made off with what it contends was the lion’s share of collectable firearms, while CPD left with 270 mostly low-value ‘junk’ guns.

“The police ran out of gift certificates at about 11:30, so all the people who realized they would be getting nothing came over to a parking lot near us and we bought the guns for cash,” Brett Pucillo, president of Ohio Carry told Guns.com Sunday. “Overall we saved about 100 guns. Anything worth saving was saved. I would say less than 10 guns of actual value made it through us to get turned in to police. If the guns weren’t worth anything, we directed them over to the police to at least get something for them. And we did encounter a couple with scratched off serial numbers that we immediately directed to the police,” said Pucillio.

The gun rights advocate stressed that all of the guns were bought in individual transactions and included several collectable firearms and antiques. The cache included a Colt 1911 and M1 Garand of World War II vintage, a Ruger Blackhawk and a Dan Wesson .357 Magnum that went into the hands of gun lovers rather than into the furnace door of a smelter.

Ohio Carry is not the only group in the Buckeye State that sets up camp at gun buyback programs. Ohio CCW recently bought an advertising box truck with a large advertisement on the side discussing the ineffectiveness of buybacks in reducing crime and directing people to a phone number they could text to get cash offers on their guns. The truck was on hand for the event this weekend although it is unknown if the group was able to purchase any firearms.

Glad they were able to save those firearms of historic value and they did send those altered ser. #'s to the police.

Over 1,000 Russian troops operating in Ukraine: NATO

MONS, Belgium, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Well over 1,000 Russian troops are operating inside Ukraine, marking a significant escalation of Moscow's military involvement in the country, NATO said on Thursday.

The alliance released satellite images it said showed Russian combat forces, armed with heavy weapons, engaged in military operations inside Ukrainian territory.

"Over the past two weeks we have noted a significant escalation in both the level and sophistication of Russia's military interference in Ukraine," Dutch Brigadier-General Nico Tak, head of NATO's crisis management centre, told reporters at NATO's military headquarters near Mons, Belgium.

"We assess well over 1,000 Russian troops are now operating inside Ukraine," he said. "They are supporting separatists (and) fighting with them."

There is a certain segment who will deny this, try to distract, derail this fact, but there's now no denying that Russia is actively invading Ukraine.

"Court: Cops Can't Claim Immunity after SWAT team fatally shot man while looking for cocaine".

A U.S. federal appeals court has ruled that Connecticut police cannot claim immunity to quash lawsuits seeking millions of dollars in damages from a botched 2008 raid by a SWAT team that severely injured a homeowner and killed his friend.

On May 18, 2008, a heavily armed SWAT — or special weapons and tactics — team unit knocked down Terebesi’s door, threw stun flash grenades into his Easton home and fatally shot 33-year-old Gonzalo Guizan of Norwalk as the two men watched television.
Guizan, who was visiting the home, died after being shot a half dozen times.
The SWAT team raided Terebisi's home because (I'm not kidding) a stripper told police she "had seen a small amount of cocaine in Terebisi's home". A small amount of drugs, but no guns were found in the search after the raid.
The SWAT team was made up of officers from five Connecticut towns-- officials in all five towns claim the "officers did not use excessive force, nor did they violate their constitutional rights".

Good ruling, and maybe this will start putting the brakes on the use of SWAT for minor raids.

Eating out and open carry.

Xposted from the GCRA group.

My husband and I were at our favorite steak house the other night for dinner. We went after a movie so it was a late dinner and the steakhouse was not busy. We sat in our favorite section with our favorite waiter. We ordered dinner, got our glasses of wine and then noticed a very intoxicated man at the bar. He had a large gun in a holster at his hip. He kept patting it like a security blanket. The waiter told us it was a Glock (sp).

He got very loud and seemed very agitated. I became more and more uncomfortable. Finally I told my husband I couldn't sit there any longer. We left our waiter 20 dollars, left enough for our meal which had not yet arrived and left. The owner stopped us at the door and asked what was wrong, we told him. He told us there was nothing he could do that would not make the situation worse. He said he if got any louder he would call the police to deal with him. My husband told him we would not be back.

I'm sure our business doesn't mean much, this guy was very well dressed and identified himself as working for a large company that pretty much owns OKC. It does annoy me that at some point we will be staying home, locked inside afraid to go out.

I really don't get it. Was there more we could have done? The law here says they can open carry.

Several things wrong here.

We ordered dinner, got our glasses of wine and then noticed a very intoxicated man at the bar. He had a large gun in a holster at his hip. He kept patting it like a security blanket. The waiter told us it was a Glock

1. No bartender is going to serve an intoxicated patron, especially one with a gun on their side, hell, no bartender is going to serve a customer with a gun on their side period, it's against the law and no owner is going to risk losing their license and possibly being sued.

He got very loud and seemed very agitated.

2. If he allegedly got loud and agitated, any manager would've called the police and had this person arrested.

The owner stopped us at the door and asked what was wrong, we told him. He told us there was nothing he could do that would not make the situation worse

3. That's an out and out lie, any owner of a private business knows damn well that they can ban firearms in their establishment and can have the violator removed.

I really don't get it. Was there more we could have done? The law here says they can open carry.

4. OKC law says that open carry is legal in bars, but drinking while carrying is illegal and any private business can ban the carrying of firearms on their property.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to call this story bullshit, it doesn't pass the smell test.

'Bastard' Carjackers Ran Down & Murdered 3 Children, Sexually Assaulted Realtor: DA

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Alleged-Carjackers-Charged-With-Running-Down-Family-Killing-3-Children-268926631.html#ixzz38t98zYkQ

LATEST COVERAGE: Accused Carjackers Charged With Murdering Kids With SUV Held Without Bail; One on Suicide Watch, Sources Say

Two "bastards," bent on robbing a realtor, are facing murder charges for carjacking and sexually assaulting the woman before running down a family selling fruit on a Philadelphia sidewalk, city law enforcement officials say. Three children, all siblings, were killed.

Jonathan Rosa, 19, and Cornelius Crawford, 23, face 15 charges each including three counts of 2nd Degree Murder, Carjacking, Kidnapping and Involuntary Deviant Sexual Assault for the alleged Friday morning crime.

“I want to personally thank Commissioner Ramsey, Captain Clark, all the men and women of the Philadelphia Police Department for their exceptional work in bringing these two bastards to justice," Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said. "All Philadelphians were moved to tears by this crime."

So sad for this family, the mother doesn't even know her 3 children didn't survive.

If these truly are the 2 perps, then if found guilty, they should spend the rest of their lives in prison.
