Congress Is About to Ban the Government From Offering Free Online Tax Filing. Thank TurboTax.
I'd sure like to see how each Dem voted.
This doesn't seem like a very good policy for the American people.

West Virginia governor signs free tuition bill for community colleges
A red state taking a step forward. Will wonders never cease.
BTW, they're not the only ones. Tennessee has a similar program.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) West Virginia residents will soon be able to go to community and technical colleges for free.
Republican Gov. Jim Justice on Monday signed a bill authorizing tuition grants to residents who are at least 18 years old and have completed a secondary program.
Grantees would have to pass a drug test each semester, maintain a 2.0 grade-point average, take at least six credit hours per semester and perform at least eight hours of community service.
Democrats Aren't Moving Left. They're Returning to Their Roots.

What pundits today decry as a radical turn in Democratic policy and politics actually finds its antecedents in 1944. With the country fully mobilized for war, President Franklin Roosevelt called for a second Bill of Rights
an economic bill of rights that would entitle all Americans to a useful and remunerative job, the right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation, the right
to a decent home, the right to adequate medical care and the right to a good education. His speech found partial inspiration in a report by the National Resource Planning Board, which advanced the necessity of a socially provided income.
Ariana Grande fans can register to vote at her U.S. concerts
This is great! More participation always equals wins for Democrats.

Ariana Grande kicked of her "Sweetener" world tour in Albany, New York, on Monday night. Not only can fans see the pop star perform songs from her two new albums during the tour, but they can also register to vote.
The singer teamed up with Head Count, a non-partisan organization that works with musicians to promote participation in democracy, according to its website. Head Count announced on Twitter last week it will be present at Grande's concerts.
The organization created "thank u next gen" a campaign that plays off of Grande's hit single "thank u, next." The program helps Grande's fans make their voices heard.
Beto O'Rourke's voting record is more conservative than the average Democrat's

But the facts are the facts.
ORourke (and Klobuchar) have voting records that are more conservative than the average Democrats, while Harris and Booker and Gillibrand and Warren and Sanders are more progressive than the average Democrat. So if youre looking for someone with a progressive voting record, you have a bunch of choices. And if youre looking for someone with a less progressive voting record, you also have a couple of choices. And if you think voting records arent very important or informative, then youre welcome to ignore all this.
But the reality is that ORourke has a record thats somewhat more conservative than that of most of his colleagues on Capitol Hill, and pointing that out isnt a nefarious conspiracy.
Posting this as a response to another thread that has devolved into "look who wrote it, a Sanders fan". Just because you don't like who wrote a piece, it doesn't change the facts. Fact is Beto O'Rourke isn't as progressive as some may think.
Health Care and Insurance Industries Mobilize to Kill 'Medicare for All'

WASHINGTON Even before Democrats finish drafting bills to create a single-payer health care system, the health care and insurance industries have assembled a small army of lobbyists to kill Medicare for all, an idea that is mocked publicly but is being greeted privately with increasing seriousness.
Doctors, hospitals, drug companies and insurers are intent on strangling Medicare for all before it advances from an aspirational slogan to a legislative agenda item. They have hired a top lieutenant in Hillary Clintons 2016 presidential campaign to spearhead the effort. And their tactics will show Democrats what they are up against as the party drifts to the left on health care.
I posted this in primaries because it's part of the discussion here. Most people seem to think all our candidates support single payer, they don't. I apologize if this is the wrong place and will move it to GD if that is the proper place for it.
