Jail let mentally disabled man starve to death, lawsuit says.

This story broke my heart and made me sick. Poor man. Long, but well worth the read.

(CNN)Arrested for stealing $5.05 of sweets and soda, a 24-year-old who doctors repeatedly diagnosed as psychotic and delusional was left to essentially starve to death over four months in a squalid Virginia jail cell, Jamycheal Mitchell's aunt alleged in a federal lawsuit.

By the time Mitchell died in August -- officially, of a heart condition "accompanying wasting syndrome of unknown etiology" -- jail staff had allegedly denied him many meals, cut off the water to his cell and left him naked with no bedding or shoes as he smeared feces on the window of his urine-covered cell, the lawsuit states, citing numerous inmates who served time with Mitchell.
Mitchell lost about 40 pounds during his time in jail, documents say. A medical examiner said he was "nearly cachectic," meaning his weight loss could not be reversed via nutrition.

What do you think the current demographics of DU are in regards to political affiliation?

How many Democrats, Independents, and Republicans are here. I'm curious as to what people think.

^^^ I found out today that this one is mine!^^^
😊
Hello everyone! I want to update you on the progress of getting my service dog. As of right now, I have raised $1,480 toward my service dog and its training expenses. These funds have allowed me to pay for the puppy as well as a crate, food, and the initial vet exam once the puppy gets to Ohio. I will be flying out on May 3rd, (Next Tuesday), to bring the puppy back and begin training. I am still trying to raise the last of the funding needed to cover training cost and transportation to Wagmor Service Dogs. They will be providing task training for the puppy. I am asking you today to help me spread the word and raise funds for my cause. We are so close to beginning the next step in our journey and hope that this message reaches someone that can help us on our way. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for all of your help!

Judge: Probable cause to prosecute 911 caller in Beavercreek Walmart shooting

Source: WLWT NBC Affiliate

FAIRFIELD, Ohio -
A judge has ruled that there is probable cause to prosecute the 911 caller in the John Crawford case.

The 22-year-old Crawford from Fairfield was shot and killed by a Beavercreek police officer on Aug. 5, 2014, while holding a pellet gun inside the Beavercreek Walmart.

Police officers who were dispatched to the store, shot and killed Crawford.

A portion of the 911 call in question follows:

Caller: "My name is [Redacted]. He just pointed it at two children."

Dispatcher: "OK, I do have officers there. So stay on the line with me, OK?"

The caller reported Crawford was waving what appeared to be a rifle in the store. Police said he didn't obey commands to put down what turned out to be an air rifle taken from a shelf.

The judge noted that video surveillance from the moment described by the caller did not match what the caller described to dispatchers.

Not sure if people remember but my wife's cousin also died that night in the store because the caller induced panic. She had a heart attack.

Just an update for my service dog. Happy National Puppy Day! New Picture Added 😁

I haven't updated everyone lately so i thought you might like to know what's going on. The puppies are 3 weeks old now and they are doing great! I have to wait until they are 49 days old, (temperament testing), before I find out which one I get. I will be flying out on May 3rd to bring the puppy home. The flight is currently in the planning stages. I have been in regular contact with Clermont County Dog Training Center. They will be training the puppy from Puppy Kindergarten through K9 good citizen certification. Once this is complete, I will be working closely with Wagmor Service Dogs to complete the puppy's task specific training.

I am still trying to raise funds to cover the final $1,500 for Wagmor's training fees as well as transportation funds. The two training facilities are located in Milford, Ohio and Tipp City, Ohio. I have faith that everything will work out but I need to do my part as well. Keep looking for more updates as the days draw closer to bringing the puppy home. Thank you all for your continued support!

Flight to get my Service Dog

Just a quick update:

I've paid off the puppy and now I'm working to raise funds for the roundtrip flight to bring her home. I have $42 left in the fundraiser account after paying gofundme fees and for my service dog.

I am hoping to raise an additional $300 to help cover the flight from Cincinnati, OH to Wichita, KS and back. I have already received a letter from my Doctor that will allow me to have the puppy with me in the cabin. This letter will cover her until she finishes training. Thank you all for your continued support! I wouldn't have made it this far without you!
