FBI: Indiana teen attempted to join Islamic State

FBI agents arrested an 18-year-old from suburban Indianapolis as he tried to board a bus to New York and join the Islamic State terror group overseas, federal authorities said Tuesday.

Akram Musleh of Brownsburg was arrested without incident, FBI spokeswoman Special Agent Wendy Osborne said.

Musleh was in the custody of federal marshals at an undisclosed location, spokesman Tim Horty of the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Musleh made his initial appearance Tuesday in U.S. District Court to hear a charge of providing material support to the Islamic State against him, Horty said. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine if convicted, prosecutors said. Musleh has a detention hearing scheduled for Monday.

(Update)Need advice, Am I being discriminated against by my landlord?

I reviewed the video this morning. He said that I'm using my disability as a crutch and manipulating people with it. Then he says, if you're disabled, how can you care for the dog?

Fast-forward several hours and he just left here. He walked in, went straight to the kitchen island, layed out a bunch of papers, then said, yeah, your carpet has stains so I'm giving you a 30 day notice to evict. He wanted me to sign papers agreeing to a date but I declined. I was told this morning that he may be in violation of the Fair Housing Act and given The contact info for someone to look into it. So.......I guess I'm moving. :/

As many here know, a few months ago I was raising money to help purchase and train a service dog for myself. The dog has been with us for about a month now and he is currently in his first training class.

Today, our landlord of 4 1/2 years shows up demanding entry into our house. He had seen the dog in the front yard when he was passing by and stopped. He said he knew nothing about it and never received my doctor's note. I checked my email after he left. It was sent 2 months ago to him. He also claimed that during furnace filter change last month, he noticed stains in the carpet. He wanted us to immediately pay for new carpet to be put in. BTW, The carpet was 5 years old when we moved in.

He finally said that this situation was not working for him and we needed to move. I asked if it was because of the dog and he said it wasn't. He got back in his truck to leave but then got back out to tell me that I'm using my disability as a crutch and needed to stop. He went on to talk about how his son is disabled and isn't like me. At this point, my wife came out and said he needed to leave. They started yelling and he said to just call the cops on him. When my wife called 911, he left.

Now, am I wrong to feel he was out of line and to talk about my disability the way he did? He also left notice that he is returning to photograph all of the rooms in 48 hours. Is he just looking for an excuse? Doesn't it seem odd that this happened only one month after the dog arrived? Btw, he comes once a month to inspect everything. I may be leaving out parts of this as it all happened so fast. In addition to a bad heart, I have really bad anxiety and PTSD. The one good thing about all of this is I had cameras installed outside because I don't feel safe. Everything that happened today was recorded.

My advice about guns

I figured since there are a million and one threads about this already, one more couldn't hurt. We have spent so much time and effort trying to work out a deal that makes everyone happy and that's legal, it seems the biggest issue is ignored.

What about the next generation of firearms? What about rail guns, pneumatic weapons, energy weapons, etc?

Hell, I know of people that make RC Battleships that shoot fully-automatic canons. They use ball-bearings for ammo and they shred each other's boats up. Should stuff like this be addressed to?

We have come to a point in our existence where almost anyone with the will could make their own guns at home. Machining tools, 3D printers, reloading equipment, these are only a few of the tools available to someone if they really wanted a gun.

So, what is my advice about guns? If you really want to make a long term difference, maybe target the guns that don't exist yet and then work backwards. By doing this, people can finally see the finish line in gun control. It will no longer be a never-ending battle. Will this fix our current problems? Of course not. But since there's already thousands of others trying to address that issue, why not just one person look into my idea. What's the worst that could happen? We ban a gun that never gets invented?

To Everyone Here

It has been a horrible day for so many. The loss of life, the fear that's left, and the tragedy that will remain with us forever. I'm sorry to those who may have lost friends or loved ones today. I am sorry to anyone that I may have offended with any comments I have made here. Emotions are running high for so many of us. I have a gay brother-in-law that lives in Keywest. My thoughts are with him as I type this. It seems just the other day we were all divided between Bernie and Hillary camps. Today, I've seen many of those people talking to each other and working together. I've also seen many members turn on each other today. As I said above, emotions are running high. Please remember that when responding to your fellow members. I've had to step back twice today due to comments that have upset me. It's hard to admit that anonymous comments have that much power but they do. I'm signing off for now with a heavy heart. I hope everyone will find peace tonight as they try to sleep.

To the victims of this horrible crime, rest in peace.

Woman mistaken for mother of boy who fell in gorilla enclosure

An Ohio mother, who has never set foot in the Cincinnati Zoo, is now caught in the middle of an online outrage.

A woman who shares the same name as the mother whose 3-year-old son fell into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo is being threatened on social media

WLWT is not releasing the woman’s name due to the sensitive nature of the issue. WLWT has not released the name of the child or the mother involved in Saturday’s incident at the zoo.

The emotions over what happened at the zoo are fueling a nastiness that is being felt by one northern Ohio woman

“I actually have a 5-year-old little boy and I think that's why I was probably being targeted -- because my (Facebook) profile picture was of me and him and I'm also from Ohio with the same name,” the victim said.

The woman said she has she has received numerous harsh messages after Harambe, the zoo’s 17-year-old western lowland gorilla, was shot and killed. Zoo officials shot the gorilla dead after a 3-year-old child fell into its exhibit.

“I have received multiple messages that were meant for her. I cannot believe how many people thought killing Harambe was wrong and it should have been her son who died instead,” she said.
