The student spokesman for the city of Offenbach’s school system, Max Moses Bonifer, resigned his post because German Arab and Turkish students attacked him and threatened to kill him.
The German daily FAZ reported on Wednesday that Bonifer said young Muslims have threatened him over the last few weeks because he wore a kippa with a Star of David and yelled at him: “We spit on your people. We’ll find you and kill you.”
Bonifer told the weekly German Jewish paper Jüdische Allgemeine that “since the Gaza conflict in the summer, youths of Arab and Turkish origin have regularly insulted me, spat at me and attacked me.”

Destruction of Iraqi Heritage Labeled 'Cultural Cleansing'
Unesco chief Irina Bokova on Sunday slammed the “barbaric” destruction of Iraq’s cultural heritage, as jihadists from the Daesh group destroy age-old sites in areas they control.
Iraq has “thousands of temples, buildings, archaeological sites, objects that represent a treasure for [all] humanity,” Bokova said during a visit to Baghdad.
“We cannot agree that this treasure, that this legacy of human civilisation, is being destroyed in the most barbaric manner,” she said.
“We have to act, we don’t have time to lose, because extremists are trying to erase the identity, because they know that if there is no identity, there is no memory, there is no history, and we think this is appalling and this is not acceptable.”

Thousands in Iran Protest Acid Attacks on Women
Thousands of Iranians took to the streets of the historic city of Isfahan on Wednesday to protest several acid attacks on women. The attacks had coincided with the passage of a law designed to protect those who correct people deemed to be acting in an “un-Islamic” way.
A local official said on Wednesday that “eight to nine” women had been attacked over the past three weeks by men on motorcycles who splashed them with acid in Isfahan, one of Iran’s largest urban centers and the country’s chief tourist destination. Some of the women were blinded or disfigured.
The protesters — more than 2,000, according to the semiofficial news agency Fars — gathered in front of the local judiciary office and shouted slogans against extremists whom the protesters likened to supporters of Islamic State militants. They also called for the city’s Friday Prayer leader and the prosecutor to step down, witnesses said. Critics have long accused the Iranian authorities of playing down episodes that could embarrass leaders rather than investigating the cases.
“We do not want to propagate virtues by acid,” some of the protesters chanted, a reference to the Islamic obligation of “propagating virtue and preventing vice.” Others shouted, “Death to extremists.”

Berkeley Students Shouldn’t Censor Bill Maher
So if you want smart and funny, with bit of smug and sexist for an added edge, Bill Maher is a perfect college speaker. His offense to a few sensitive Golden Bear souls is to note — in the sharp, exaggerated and blunt style that is the comedian’s stock in trade — that Islam is not all that tolerant.
Maher’s comments early this month drew on an exhaustive Pew Research Center survey last year of Muslim attitudes, based on 38,000 face-to-face interviews in 39 countries. The findings were fairly grim for fans of enlightenment. Most Muslims in at least six countries favored “executing those who leave Islam.” A majority also said homosexuality was morally wrong and that a wife should always obey her husband. Most troubling, the poll found high support in countries like Egypt and Iraq for “honor killings” — executing someone, usually a woman, for having sex out of wedlock.
Islam, said Maher on his HBO show, “is the only religion that acts like the Mafia” — killing heretics who say the wrong things or leave the faith. The forward-thinking social values that liberals favor are the very things that a majority of Muslims in some countries will not tolerate, he said.
One person’s punch line should not be another’s fatwa.

BCAM: Why Black Women Are Less Likely To Survive Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is one of the more survivable cancers, thanks in part to large strides in education, treatment and post-cancer care. An American woman diagnosed with breast cancer in 1975 had about a 75 percent chance of surviving for five years post-diagnosis. Today, that rate hovers around 90 percent, according to the latest statistics.
But not all women have benefited from these advances. Black women currently have a national survival rate of 79 percent. In other words, the average contemporary black woman has a survival rate on parity with a white woman from the 1970s.
Black women haven't benefitted from advancements in breast cancer treatment to the same extent as their white counterparts due to factors that include socioeconomic barriers and lack of access to the most comprehensive health services. "The advancements in screening tools and treatment which occurred in the 1990s were largely available to white women, while black women, who were more likely to be uninsured, did not gain equal access to these life-saving technologies," Bijou Hunt, an epidemiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago who recently published a study that examined racial disparities among breast cancer survivors, told Reuters in March.
To be clear, survival rates are improving for both white and black patients. But white patient survival rates are improving at a dramatically faster pace, creating a growing chasm between the groups. That's particularly noteworthy because white women have higher rates of breast cancer in the first place.

Ralph Nader: Hillary Clinton is a 'menace to the United States'
She may be leading all of the polls looking ahead to the 2016 presidential election, but Ralph Nader, the former Green Party and Independent Party presidential candidate, doesn't want anything to do with Hillary Clinton.
In an interview with WeAreChange earlier this week, Nader sounded off on Clinton, saying she's "a menace to the United States."
He starts off by saying she's too big of a "corporatist and a militarist."
But then he kicks it up a notch.
“She thinks Obama is too weak, he doesn’t kill enough people overseas," Nader said. "So she’s a menace to the United States of America.”

Egypt Says Hamas Provided Weapons for Lethal Sinai Attack
Egyptian security sources report that the two deadly attacks last Friday on El-Arish in the Sinai peninsula that killed at least 31 Egyptian soldiers was aided by none other than Hamas.
According to the sources quoted by Channel 10, those actually carrying out the suicide bombing at a checkpoint and a shooting in the city were Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis jihadists, members of a group sympathetic to Islamic State (ISIS). However, the sources added that the weapons used in carrying out the attack were given to the group in Sinai by Hamas terrorists, who transferred the weapons through one of the myriad of tunnels breaching the Sinai border with Gaza.

(Malaysia)School incurs wrath of Muslim groups, refuses to abort Halloween activities
Muslim groups in Malaysia have hit out at an international school in Negri Sembilan for promoting and organising Halloween activities that will take place on Oct 31, urging the Government to pull the plug on the event.
However, brushing aside calls to abort the event, the international school has said it will go ahead with its Halloween celebration, a Chinese-language newspaper reported on Sunday.
Ikatan Guru Muslim Malaysia (IGMM) deputy president Mohd Azizee Hassan said the celebration of Halloween is inappropriate as it clashes with Malaysian culture and traditions, according to a news portal.
Another news portal quoted Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman as saying that Halloween celebrations were intended to spread atheism.
"We notice that such events are held to test moral limits or religion, and they are usually done by groups which are not religion-based,” Abdullah Zaik was quoted as saying by the website.

BCAM : Pink drill bits for breast cancer draw protestors to Sunday’s Steelers game
A controversy surrounding a major oil and gas services company’s breast cancer awareness campaign drew protestors to downtown Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Football fans packing into Heinz Field for the Steelers-Colts game were met by a handful of people handing out flyers and holding up signs warning passersby to “think before you pink.”
At half time, Baker Hughes CEO Martin Craighead planned to hand over a $100,000 check to Susan G. Komen, the world’s largest breast cancer organizations which funds screenings, treatments and research. The company is also giving out 1,000 hot pink drill bits to its customers around the world, along with breast cancer awareness and screening information.
Over the last few weeks, the backlash has brought together anti-fracking activists and health advocates who object to campaigns that they say “pinkwash” the serious impacts breast cancer brings on those with the disease and their families.\
