But then you know this...

This is so full of information - I will share with DIL - all that I know

about the Philippines comes from conversations with her. She has her Masters in Math, earned in the Philippines, taught HS 11 years in Zamboanga. She arrived here almost 6 years ago - alone, with a small bag..she and my son waited 3 years for her to be able to make the journey..he did visit many times during the process she had to endure..they are both teaching in the states..last year she was so excited when the math results in her school demonstrated an improvement in test scores..

Zamboanga has a terrible history of kidnapping Americans..even their own need to be very careful - my DIL when she journeyed to her parents home in a more northern island in the Philippines, the trek taking more than 12 hours by many buses - she said she had to always be on alert, keep her head down and become a ghost as much as she could. To this day, any social media they communicate with, they use different names..my son is ret. Navy 21 years..ALL in the Pacific Fleet..he is very familiar with the need to be discreet...

I read you posts all the time..never disappointed..you seem to have an affinity for global affairs..I am not surprised by your attention to detail re this agribusiness in the Philippines..I always learn something new..

Salamat

Thanks for posting..even the companies who own the voting machines

THINK THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW....

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/apr/22/us-voting-machine-private-companies-voter-registration

When Raskin learned that there are next to no federal laws that govern or regulate private sector companies involved in US election infrastructure, he hurriedly introduced a bill that would prevent states from contracting with firms owned or influenced by non-US citizens. He plans to reintroduce an updated version of the bill in this legislative session, he told the Guardian. While it has a decent chance of passing the Democratic-controlled House, it would require Republican support in the Senate to become law.

That is not likely. Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell has been antagonistic to election reform bills, as has the whole Republican party. The party narrative is that Democrats are trying to use the federal government to take over state and local elections; the political angle is that recognizing vulnerabilities or flaws in the election system could raise doubts about the legitimacy of the party’s – and Donald Trump’s – victory in 2016.

No wonder you took up math..you have mastered sequencing - wonderful story...

My daughter-in-law, has her masters in math for which I take no credit, but do boast proudly. She is from the Philippines where teachers are revered. She came to this country 6 years ago and landed a teaching job within 11 months...took a bit of time for her to become acclimated, married..to most honorable son. (a globetrotter, retired Navy Chief), yes, boasting again, whom she met three years prior, in the Philippines. She is the most humble person I have ever met, so kind, caring, and full of grace. They just came back from their globetrotting to Hong Kong (yes, they have pictures of the protest) and her family in the Philippines. Wonderful stories of their adventure - they go back every year after their school term ends. He teaches also.

I ask her questions all the time about her experiences teaching here. She laughs, or shakes her head, but steady and persistent, in keeping 5th through 7th graders in line..is definitely different from teaching in the Philippines...where the students are very studious and respectful, if I may. Some of her stories are funny, some sad, and some downright horrible, and yet, she is going into her 4th year. She moved the needle at her school for math test scores..this is what motivates her to continue..as she shakes her head and laughs..

I just love this from YOUR story, "such as something is true "if and only if" something else was true". Can be said for so many situations.

I will share this link as well as your story with her. She is teaching me Tagalog, her native language...so, I will just say Salamat (thank you in Tagalog)

I never put my party dress on until the day of the party..nor do I prejudge

if I will have a good time or not..At this link you will find 35 questions many think congress should ask Mueller....including questions from Readers - my feeling about this, if Mueller answers any and all of these questions, having read through them all, we will have a more clear picture - I just don't see how the questions presented at this link veers from the report...

https://www.justsecurity.org/64137/what-congress-should-ask-robert-mueller-when-he-testifies/

For example....

3. Upon concluding your work and submitting your final report, did you anticipate the Attorney General reaching and publicly announcing a conclusion on whether the President had obstructed justice? Would you have recommended that the Attorney General do so?

At Just Security another story of interest...
