On Sunday the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal expressed dismay that Arizona voters will have an opportunity next week to pass a bill that will lend more transparency to elections by not allowing wealthy donors to hide behind "dark money" organizations.
At issue is the Voters’ Right to Know Act, also known as Proposition 211, which would mandate that all donors giving more than $5,000 have their names available to the public.
As the Journal's editors see it, it will have a "chilling effect on free speech" because donors might face the wrath of critics --with the editors specifically singling out "the left."

On Thursday, a federal judge in Texas found True The Vote's Catherine Engelbrecht and Gregg Phillips, a former Texas official who claims that "2,000 mules" stole the 2020 election from Donald Trump, in contempt of court. Engelbrecht is a friend of Ginni Thomas's , by the way, and her group has collaborated with QAnon. And the story is about to get weirder.

They are facing accusations of defamation and computer crimes from a company at the center of a viral right-wing social media campaign engineered by the conservative voting organization.
The judge informed the pair they would face jail time if they did not comply with the terms of a court order by Monday at 9 a.m.

Newshound Ellen wrote about Arizona attorney general Mark Brnovich's refusal to say, just three days ago on Jon Stewart's show, that Trump did not win the election. "People can draw their own conclusions," he said.
In that segment, Brnovic said that there was a lot of national support for Trump’s election claims.
“There’s people that believe in angels but that doesn’t mean that you launch an investigation that angels changed ballots,” Stewart said.

Face The Nation host Margaret Brennan took NRCC chairman Rep. Tom Emmer to the woodshed over the violent Twitter video he posted of him shooting a high powered weapon with the hashtag #FirePelosi.
Emmer got flustered when the CBS host confronted his violent attack on Speaker Pelosi just after Paul Pelosi was almost murdered in his home when a MAGA supporter hit him with a hammer.
"I would love to talk about something other than people being worried for their lives, but unfortunately, that's where are," Brennan said.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk completed his $44 billion purchase of Twitter on Thursday; then, the behemoth social site immediately turned into a racist shithole. There is a reported increase in usage of the N-word on the platform — a 500% increase on the social site. Oh, and that's not the only highly inappropriate word that's being used with impunity on Twitter.
Ever since the violent assault on Paul Pelosi, the husband of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, conservatives have been jumping to conspiracy theories. They are doing the opposite of what we did when Steve Scalise was shot by blaming the victim. One of those who did that is no other than Musk himself.
Musk shared a link to a fake news article detailing a right-wing conspiracy about the circumstances of the attack on Paul Pelosi from a website known for repeatedly publishing stories that are not true, including a report that Hillary Clinton died during the 2016 presidential campaign and a body double was sent to debate then Republican-candidate Donald Trump, according to The Hill.

A CNN "State of the Union" interview went briefly off the rails on Sunday morning when host Dana Bash and Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) loudly talked over each other after he claimed Democrats cut Medicare benefits -- and she kept telling him that wasn't true.
It concluded with an exasperated Scott pleading with the CNN host, saying, "Come on. Alright, I mean..."
"Democrats say that one of your proposals which would sunset all federal legislation after five years jeopardizes Medicare and Social Security," Bash prompted him. "You have previously said that those programs need to be preserved, reformed and protected. So just a simple yes or no: do Republicans want to cut Medicare and Social Security?"

A billionaire bought Twitter, and with that, he opened the floodgates to racist and violent tweets and others that fire up the already conspiratorial right-wing base. I don't know why Elon Musk couldn't be like his other insufferable billionaire pals and jump in his dick rocket to venture into space. But no, Musk, who considers himself a free-speech absolutist, claimed that he was buying Twitter to "help humanity," even though he would have helped humanity by taking a flight into space and never returning. The minute the deal went through, Twitter became an even bigger shithole than it was. Just like that.
Conspiracy theories started circulating after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband was severely injured during a home invasion. The culprit was a Q-nut, of course. A full-pledged, knuckle-dragging, election-denying MAGA disciple. Mr. Pelosi is recovering right now from brain surgery after David DePape, 42, attacked him while yelling, "Where is Nancy?" and then proceeded to attack Paul Pelosi, 82, with a hammer, causing him blunt-force trauma to his head and body.
It's pretty clear what happened, right? Well, not if you're Newsmax host Greg Kelly. He took to Twitter to suggest that the vicious attack was "staged," then said that the victim, Paul Pelosi, should be investigated.
