drray23's Journalit's hard to fathom the monumental amount of work
the commitee did. Thousands of interviews, countless documents both paper and electronic. They pieced all of it together producing a compelling narrative during the hearings , buttressing it with carefully chosen clips from the interviews.
These people and their staff are geniuses. As part of my job we often have to synthesize large amounts of information and distill it in a few pages in a paper. I know how hard it is and their task was an order of magnitude bigger .
This also puts into perspective the pace at which DOJ is going. They have to do this as well and make it legally tight so that it can be used in court.
omg the barr testimony is damning for Trump.
I wish he has come out sooner instead of waiting for his book to be published.
eric Hirschmann had an interesting background
in his room when he was interviewed by the commitee.
very smart strategy from the Jan 6 commitee
What they are establishing is that everybody knew that Trump had lost election night but Trump and maybe Giuliani both insisted otherwise.
This proves Trump had the intent and resolve to carry on contesting it including plotting to reverse it.
that bipartisan agreement for gun reform is a joke
It's money for school security and mental health treatments . It's also money grants to encourage states to pass red flag laws .
That is completely unacceptable . All it does is give cover to the gop for the upcoming elections. Heck it even reinforces their talking points about the fact its all about mental health and fortifying schools. They will be able to claim they did something when in fact none of these measures address the problem effectively.
Why is it that every time we cut a bipartisan deal it's always biased towards the gop ?
the Tulsa police captain is demonstrating what effective communication
after a shooting looks like. He is not hiding anything, giving all the factual information, timeline, etc...
suspect had a long gun ( captain has not said yet if it was an AR) and a handgun.
update: I edited to reflect that he is not the chief of police but the captain whose officers responded.
big contrast between Tulsa chief of police and the clowns from Uvalde.
453 pm they get a call for active shooter
456 pm they get there
501pm enter and make contact with victims and suspect.
they did not dally around, just went in as they heard the gunshots. The suspect had killed himself but the police went in, the few of them that responded. That likely prompted the killer to shoot himself and ended the slaughter.
update. cnn showing a cellphone video a bystander took. police came in, pulled long guns from the trunk of the patrol car and ran in. That police department was equipped and well trained.
leading cause of death for kids in the United States.
It's mind bogling.
Firearms became the leading cause of death for American children and teenagers in 2020, according to researchers who analyzed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data.
This sad fact represents a major shift in risks for young people in the U.S. For over 60 years, car accidents were the leading cause of death for kids and teens. Car accidents are now number two, while drug overdoses are number three.

cawthorn screwed up big time
he pissed off enough of the gop that they are out to destroy him not just run him out of congress.
When they needed it , they had no problems unearthing all sorts of scandals that Cawthorn was implicated in. From sexual escapades to crypto fraud, staffing issues, etc..
My working hypothesis is that most if not all the deplorables ( boebert, gossar, Gaetz, etc...) have similar scandals in their background. It's practically a requirement to be a magat .
I hope these deplorables get the same treatment.
Was not Musk's twitter financing based on
Tesla not dropping more than 40 % ? It's now at 39 or so. That might sink the whole deal since the other backers can now relinquish the financing and leave him to hold the bag.
