The full implication of De Santis ever winning the presidency just hit me.

In the aftermath of the latest hearings fox news analysts were saying Trump has criminal exposure and may be in trouble.

This is a stunning development. Maybe the fox overlords have decided to finally ditch Trump and back De Santis.

If that's the case it's imperative we break the filibuster asap ( hopefully after November if we gain enough senate seats) to pass voting rights laws. Getting out the vote is crucial.

My thinking is that De Santis has been ruthlessly effective in Florida at getting the legislature to pass all sorts of horrible things.

If he gets to the white house he will have an Agenda and unlike Trump will push it effectively. He will get the gop senate to drop the filibuster if they get senate and house and pass laws that will bring us to the point of no return.

There will be no " oh but we have the filibuster" to save us.

I believe that the QGOP cult has been so effective at brainwashing people to vote against their own interests because they are adept at planting seeds for conspiracy theories. In recent years the GOP has understood that with the social media platforms they can do this very well.

where a Florida congressman tweets that Nancy Pelosi and CNN were in cahoot to orchestrate some kind of propaganda operation on the floor of congress.

Of course, it was totally false, and that congressman later deleted the tweet quietly.

Meanwhile his followers saw it, some retweeted it, etc..
You can bet its now part of the MAGA lore that Nancy Pelosi and CNN are up to no good. These people will never see the debunking.

The GOP knows that and uses this method very effectively. I am not sure how we combat that.

Regarding casing the capitol on January 5th.

I am pretty sure that there is a video showing a woman ( the pink hat woman ) telling insurgents where to go as they were breaking through a window, explicitly saying she had been there the day before.

I will see if I can find it. I remember because at the time people were debating who was that pink hat woman.

it's hard to fathom the monumental amount of work

the commitee did. Thousands of interviews, countless documents both paper and electronic. They pieced all of it together producing a compelling narrative during the hearings , buttressing it with carefully chosen clips from the interviews.
These people and their staff are geniuses. As part of my job we often have to synthesize large amounts of information and distill it in a few pages in a paper. I know how hard it is and their task was an order of magnitude bigger .
This also puts into perspective the pace at which DOJ is going. They have to do this as well and make it legally tight so that it can be used in court.

What they are establishing is that everybody knew that Trump had lost election night but Trump and maybe Giuliani both insisted otherwise.
This proves Trump had the intent and resolve to carry on contesting it including plotting to reverse it.

that bipartisan agreement for gun reform is a joke

It's money for school security and mental health treatments . It's also money grants to encourage states to pass red flag laws .

That is completely unacceptable . All it does is give cover to the gop for the upcoming elections. Heck it even reinforces their talking points about the fact its all about mental health and fortifying schools. They will be able to claim they did something when in fact none of these measures address the problem effectively.
Why is it that every time we cut a bipartisan deal it's always biased towards the gop ?
