"To get involved in a bloody and complicated war in Syria makes no sense at all. We would reap consequences we can't imagine." - See more at: http://progressive.org/news/2013/09/184140/why-bernie-sanders-opposes-us-strike-syria#.dpuf

Vice President Joe Biden to attend former congressman Louis Stokes' funeral in Cleveland

CLEVELAND - Vice President Joe Biden will be in Cleveland on Tuesday to attend former congressman Louis Stokes’ funeral.

Stokes, the first black congressman elected in Ohio, died last week with his wife at his side after a brief battle with brain and lung cancer.

He was 90.

I posted this in 'Primaries ' as that is likely how the media will likely cover it.

Reports on Hillary's event at the patriot center in No.Va.??

Hillary Clinton's Newest Consultant Was A Major Keystone Lobbyist

The newest hire for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign is a longtime strategist who played a key role in her 2008 primary defeat while working for then-Sen. Barack Obama.
He’s also a Washington lobbyist who lobbied the State Department -- led, at the time, by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- on behalf of the company seeking to build the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.
Clinton's new consultant, Jeff Berman, has followed, in many respects, a well-worn path for those in Washington D.C. He spent a large chunk of his career in the public sector before a stint on K Street, and now he's back again. When Clinton hired Berman for his current role, it was seen as something of a coup, because he's known as a master of the mechanics of the primary process. Buzzfeed, which broke the news of Berman's hiring on Wednesday, described him as “a bit of a living legend in the small world that can speak fluently" about the strategic minutiae involved in winning an election...

Netroots Nation Phoenix: Hillary Clinton to miss convention of liberal activists, bloggers

PHOENIX - Hillary Rodham Clinton is not expected to appear at Netroots Nation, an annual convention of liberal activists and bloggers who are often courted by Democratic presidential candidates.

Organizers of the event say Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley have confirmed to appear at the mid-July conference in Phoenix.

Clinton's campaign is citing a scheduling conflict for her absence, saying the Democratic front-runner is already scheduled to speak in Iowa and Arkansas that weekend.

About 3,000 activists are planning to attend the convention, which will also feature Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who many liberals had hoped would challenge Clinton in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries.

Confederate Statue Vandalized With Graffiti In Charleston As Emanuel AME Church Reopens

Located in Charleston’s White Point Gardens, the statue was dedicated “To the Confederate Defenders of Charleston -- Fort Sumter” in a reference to the U.S. Civil War. The defaced statue was briefly covered with a tarp, but the tarp has since been removed, exposing the graffiti to bystanders....

Quote of the day: "Rahm Emanuel’s millions of dollars weren’t enough to whitewash his record...
