I am the Progressive Democratic challenger to Tea Party Republican Sean Duffy in northern Wisconsin (WI-7). I grew up in a military family and spent much of my life in the southern part of the country. I settled in northern Wisconsin after earning my degree in Peace, Conflict, and Global Studies from Northland College in Ashland. I went on to work with a local nonprofit organization, the Alliance for Sustainability, where I focused on sustainable community and economic development. While serving as Executive Director, I coordinated a regional pilot project with the State Office of Energy Independence that was designed to increase energy efficiency and promote the use of renewable energy alternatives. I also worked with local businesses and municipalities to reduce waste and promote more sustainable day-to-day operations as part of the Green Team Network of Early Adopters of Sustainability. As a small business owner, I have spent the last three years working with the Bayfield Regional Food Producers Cooperative.My work focused on building a strong local food system through farm-to-table events, community supported agriculture, wholesale marketing and distribution, and organizational efficiencies. I helped area farmers focus on what they do best while building a food system that can support family farms for generations to come.
