Southern California earth quake just now

Didn't feel it too bad in san diego but it was enough to wake me up. USGS is saying 5.2 just a little east of san diego.

Hindu priest hacked to death in Bangladesh

Source: CNN

A 70-year-old Hindu priest was hacked to death Tuesday morning in southwestern Bangladesh, police say.
The priest, Ananda Gopal Ganguly, was on his way to temple when the assailants attacked him in a field in a secluded part of a village in the country's Jhenaidah district, Altaf Hossain, a police superintendent, told CNN.

Nation's largest health insurer dropping out of the ACA in California

The nation’s largest health insurer announced in April it was dropping out of all but a handful of 34 health insurance marketplaces it participated in. But the company had not discussed its plans in California.

A college on the edge of Silicon Valley has turned itself into an upmarket visa mill

I apologize for the source, I couldn't find any other one. The article is incredibly disturbing to anyone with a regard for high education in America and I wanted to post it... keep in mind this is an accredited university in the US. The "no full time permanent faculty" part is personally upsetting

Quick snip:

"Spending millions on foreign recruiters, Northwestern Polytechnic University enrolls 99% of its students — more than 6,000 overall last year — from overseas, with little regard for their qualifications. It has no full-time, permanent faculty, despite having a student body larger than the undergraduate population of Princeton.

The school issues grades that are inflated, or simply made up, so that academically unqualified students can keep their visas, along with the overseas bank loans that allow the students to pay their tuition. For two years, top college administrators forbade professors from failing any students at all, and the university’s president once personally raised hundreds of student grades — by hand."

Another day another beating by the cops on a guy who was surrendering

This crap needs to end... I'm sure the words "stop resisting" were being yelled as the 6 cops were pummeling him with batons, fists, and feet. He was light skinned, so at least the cops beat him according to the contents of his character??

If HRC wins the general, can she get her server back from the FBI?

**A GD moderator specifically told me to move this post to GDP**

She implemented her private server since she didn't like using (or didn't know how to use) the classified secure network. If she wins the general election, she will need the server back so that she can conduct presidential business. Is it in the president's power to order the FBI to return personal property?

"Uber for women" - What do female DUers think about this? (Men can post too ;)

"A new Boston-area startup hopes to be a new on-demand ride service that will only offer rides to women, and children of any gender under 13."

http://arstechnica.com/business/2016/04/chariot-for-women-an-uber-like-service-for-females-set-to-launch-this-month/

I am a married man, my wife really likes this idea and hopes to use it ASAP. She said she will feel safer knowing its a female driver that will pick her up.

I had some initial skepticism. It seems if you wanted to pretend to be a taxi type driver in order to kidnap a woman then your first choice would be to use a system where you are guaranteed to pick up a woman every time. I've heard of sadistic male/female couples that get off on that kind of thing... think bonny and clyde but with a preference for kidnap/murder.

So what are your thoughts, female DUers? Would you feel safer using the service? Or the same? Or perhaps even less safe?

The Internet is losing its mind about this confusing pizza math problem

http://news.yahoo.com/internet-losing-mind-confusing-pizza-161300422.html

“Marty ate 4/6 of his pizza and Luis ate 5/6 of his pizza. Marty ate more pizza than Luis. How is that possible?”

The student answered:
“Marty’s pizza is bigger than Luis’s pizza.”

After thinking about it for a second, yeah, that totally makes sense. But the teacher marked the answer wrong and wrote:
“That is not possible because 5/6 is greater than 4/6 so Luis ate more.”

The grade school kid should be teaching the class and the teacher should be retaking it :X
