A song with no music

I have no idea on type of music I could put to this? Maybe rag time?

50 years ago this song was dropped.

Which way you are you going Billy? Poppy Family. This was Canadian pop group. They started a new genre called: Soft rock. It was love song with an anti-war message. That sold a lot of records back then. I didn’t like it much. If you so incline, read all about it.

A poem about winter in the Catskills

The concert I didn't go to in 1969

During my high school days, I tried to bum a ride to concerts because I didn’t have a car. One day my friend offered me a ticket to see Led Zeppelin in Orange Country California. I told him I get back to him in a day. I never heard A Led Zeppelin song. I knew this band came from the ruins of the Yardbirds. I bought their 45 single on Atlantic Records: A whole lotta of Lovin. The flip side was: She just a Woman. I slapped the Vinyl donut on my Sears record player and…and…nothing happened. I was bored as student attending a lecture on the economy in Finland. There were some factors in my dislike for this song. Robert Plants voice. It was really grating like fingernails on a chalkboard. His voice sounded like a chicken getting chocked to death. There were too excessive echo-plex sound effects during the guitar break. I called my buddy that night and told him: Thanks, but no thanks.
One Christmas somebody bought me Physical Graffiti: Zeppelins double album. I listened to it once, then twice and it sat on my shelf for 2 decades.
This band was the official band for long hair white guys in California in the 70’s and 80’s. Critics labeled them Heavy Metal. Not! They were commercial limp hard rock. The Canadian band “Rush” was called Heavy Metal! Misnomer! They were Libertarian whip power pop. Hell! I remember when some music award show put Jethro Tull in a Heavy Metal category. They called the best metal band that year.
I’m glad I didn’t go to that gig.

Profile in cowardice.

Profile in cowardice. Back in the 60’s & 70’s, conservatives use to whine about permissive parents and lenient judges who let guilty criminals go free. Now the conservatives are treating Trump like he is a misunderstood man. The Republicans act like serial killer mother moms. Oh! My poor baby isn’t a bad boy! They treat his PROVEN crime like it is some type of misdemeanor like jay walking. Well…. extortion is not a peccadillo. Read my commentary on my Blog.

A summary of the top songs of 1970

For those of my generation! This was the music of 1970 on AM radio. Just a reminder, that was 50 years ago!

I am a Truck

I Am a Truck: 1960. Like most American kids, some of us grew up with Children Songs. Children songs rarely change. They are upbeat, happy-go-lucky tunes. Last years well-known kid song “Baby Shark” was not only an annoying song to adults but also an anthem to fans of the Washington Nationals baseball team. Don’t ask. This is a song from my childhood. The record laid around our house for 10 years.

Left wing double entendre

Left wing double entendre: One-Way to get around censorship is the methodology of “Double Entendre”. It was done in 19-century literature to get around church dogma. In the 20th century it was used to use for lyrics about sex and drugs starting with Bessie Smiths 1931 song: I need a little sugar in my bowl. It sounds innocent enough but it’s not. If you remark what the lyrics really means then you are accused of having a dirty mind. So this passive/aggressive method of being nasty is very Anglo-Saxon. It all died in the early 70’s when bands just blurted it out! Hey Baby! Let’s F- -K!
In the 60’s, radio was pretty conservative. So conservative that they accused songs having a secret message, so it was pulled off the air. The Beatles 1966 song “Yellow Submarine” was accused of being about going an acid trip. That was the Gavin report. Read all about it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavin_Report
In order to have a protest song that would have been indicted as Anti-American, they had to disguise it as a love song. The Canadian band “Guess Who” had a 1970 double entendre song called: American Woman. You think it was about this Canadian guy who was avoiding having a relationship this American woman. Nah! It was about Canada not wanting to be like the USA. Another song “See link below” was Don McLean’s 1971 song “Everybody love me” This you think it was about this arrogant guy who has sex with every woman he meets. Nope! The song is about America!
Censorship has eased up; there are less of these songs. Thank Buddha!

An Open Letter to the Senate Republicans

Party Loyalty Versus Morality

Honorable Senators of the United States Senate:

I am going to try really hard not to curse or go into a tirade. I will be respectful and remain as dignified as possible. Here it goes:

I am not naive enough, or Pollyanna hearted to believe you are going be objective over the Impeachment trial of President Trump. I know that you are going to vote to acquit him and to not remove him from office. Why? It is because he is a member of your family, or tribe.
It kind of works that way in slums. What is the old adage? Snitches get stitches. If someone commits a crime in your tribe, then you pretend you never saw it and, if or when you are asked about it, you reply: “I know nothing.” If you do rat, or “inform” on your fellow tribesman, then you are punished. It doesn’t matter if you are in the army, a street gang, or a family. It is all about being loyal.
However, is “Loyalty” a virtue? The 3rd branch of Philosophy—Ethics—has debated this preposition for hundreds of years. If your son commits a heinous crime, do you support him, love him, lie, and hide him? Or, do you turn him over to the police?
This ethical dilemma is why you will be voting “not guilty.” You will rationalize it and say the evidence is flimsy, predicated on hearsay. You will not say the real reason you are exonerating him. What is the real reason? If you vote your conscious then you will anger your rich donors and the party bosses. So, you recite your party’s talking points like a well-programmed robot, and prepare for your reelection. Come on! You know it’s true!
There is more in “Sacrifice” then dying for your country on a battlefield. Sacrifice also means betraying your rich donors and Republican leadership for the sake of patriotic justice. We have an insane, drug-addled president who could start World War Three at any moment. If you vote “Guilty,” not only will you save America, you will save the entire world!
Before you throw away your vote on vindicating a scurrilous reprobate, may I make a suggestion? Read the book by John F. Kennedy, “Profile In Courage.” What will you learn from this book? Don’t be a good Republican. Be a great patriot!

Yours truly,

Koch Ebola
