A live performance I did in 1995

The 90’s poetry scene in Los Angeles will never have the same impact as the original Beat scene. This audiotape is I trying badly to imitate Allen Ginsberg. I wrote about scene in a manuscript called, “Open Mike”. The 90’s were an interesting period in American culture. It was the last gasp of the spoken word and the last decade of Rock & Roll.
What was so cool about 90’s poetry was the “All is invited” Democracy. What was a bum trip were the elitists who organized these events at coffee houses and edited poet fanzines. The MC on this tape I wanted to pop him in the face. All I wanted to do was read my shit. It’s all in my unpublished book.
The sound quality is not that good but is audible. I forget who the sax player was, so my apologies to him. I use to tape most of my performances. This takes place in the City of Long Beach 1995. Enjoy.

Remember protest music?

Red Alert (Morris Cagle): This particular tunes was the flip side of Benedict Arnold & The Traitors very first record: Kill the hostages. It was documented in my manuscript: Minster of Pogo (Never Published). The 3rd carnation of the Traitors called: 100th Monkey. We would play this song in clubs in the 80’s. This was the long version of that tune, In the middle of the song would be a feedback lace jam and I would improvise a spoken word poem while the band made noise. We attempted to record this song on an 8-track tape. We never finished it.
When we recorded the double C.D in the early 2000’s (Star, spangled, bummer) we recorded this song and renamed it as: Red, White and Blue alert. I wrote a spoken word piece about life during The Bush administration.

I explain how right wing propaganda works.

I have been fighting right wing propaganda since 1969. Now what we got is baby Boomer Conservatives who utilize old John Birch Society rhetoric and old Nativist talking points from the 1920's. It is in my blog..
