…..For over a year, President Trump and his Administration have sought to obstruct the Committee’s duly authorized subpoena to Deutsche Bank. While we are disappointed that the Supreme Court abandoned its prior precedent and promulgated a new standard for Congressional subpoenas implicating the President, we are grateful that the Court reaffirmed Congress’ broad power to investigate in aid of its legislative authority. The dubious legal arguments advanced by Donald Trump and Bill Barr would have undermined the separation of powers and were properly rejected by the Court.

Trump said, via The Washington Post:

“It takes guts to say what I say,” he said on Wednesday. “I mean, I understand, I could do it a lot easier, but it would be the wrong thing to do. I could say I’m against everything — ‘I’m against everything, I’m totally in favor of all of the hate.’ — The real hate is not the hate from me. The real hate is the hate from the other side on many of the things that we talk about.”

Republicans on Capitol Hill don’t know what Donald Trump will do with a second term. Reports over the Fourth of July weekend claimed the GOP has “no idea” what the President’s agenda could be.

It’s well documented that Donald Trump rarely or never reads his President’s Daily Brief (PDB), which – as Natasha Bertrand of Politico pointed out on Thursday – consists of about a dozen different articles per day covering various hotspots and national security threats the president should be aware of.

But according to Bertrand, Trump can’t even get through his verbal briefings without going off on tangents – especially if the briefer brings up Russia.
“His intelligence briefers have essentially internalized this notion that if you bring up Russia around him, he’s just going to explode,” Bertrand said during an interview with MSNBC’s Ari Melber. “He doesn’t want to hear anything about Russia.”
