Most evangelical college students appreciate LGBT people even if trustees don't

From the article:

IDEALS data reveals that a whopping 85 percent of incoming students to evangelical colleges and universities find it at least moderately important that their campuses are welcoming toward LGBT people, with 44 percent finding it very important. That only 67 percent of these students actually perceive their campuses to be welcoming toward LGB people and 62 percent toward trans people, however, suggests that students’ expectations of an inclusive campus are not being met.

Who is looking for the perfect candidate for 2020?

We have all seen the various articles explaining why candidate "X" is flawed, and unworthy of our vote.

And when we read about candidate "A", and "B", and on and on, it soon becomes apparent that the perfect candidate does not actually exist.*

*(Mainly because I am not running.)

So when we are evaluating the candidates, cane we at least keep in mind that not one of the current candidates is without flaws.

Not one candidate will be the perfect progressive on every issue.

Not one candidate will have a past record with no embarrassing moments.

But when evaluating anyone, can we look at the entire record, and even if there are imperfections, as long as they do not indicate a pattern of misbehavior, can we accept the imperfections?

And I am not saying that criminal behavior should be excused. That is the GOP standard, but it should not be ours.

Calling Trump's lies "another fact" is debasing the language.

I have heard a few comments on MSNBC regarding Trump claiming that something is a fact when it is, in fact, a lie.

The commenter should not call it a fact, or a fact that Trump introduced, or any expression that includes the word fact in it. When Trump lies, he should be called a liar. And what he says should be called a lie. Anything else erases the difference between fact and lie, and between truth and lies.

One example:
It is this deliberate media debasement of the language that allows the GOP to call something a "right to work" Bill, when it is actually anti-worker legislation that demonstrably depresses wages. It has nothing to do with any right to work, and media commenters should note this fact.

We all know that the US media is corporate controlled, and over 90% corporate owned, and we know that the media plays a huge role in normalizing Trump, and the GOP in general.

How long into the SOTU address before Trump veers off script?

He cannot stay focused on anything for very long, and he cannot even pretend to be normal. SO hw long before "nice Donald" reverts to type and becomes Putin's attack dog?

Chris Christie Thinks New York Prosecutors Could Sink Trump Before Mueller Does

From the article:

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said on Monday that Donald Trump has a lot more to worry about than special counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation.

According to Christie, prosecutors in the Southern District of New York could be much more dangerous to Trump’s presidency due to the fact that their scope isn’t limited like Mueller’s.

“The Southern District of New York has no restrictions on their purview,” the former governor said. “Bob Mueller has a task. It’s Russian interference and potential collusion in the 2016 election. Southern District of New York is whatever the heck you want.”

How interfaith values support New York's Reproductive Health Act

From the article:

New York state just enacted the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), which updates and strengthens the right to choose an abortion in the state. High-profile criticism of the law has come principally from the Catholic Church, including calls for the state’s Catholic governor, Andrew Cuomo, to be excommunicated.

Yet the law reflects the values shared by many pro-choice clergy and laypeople committed to Protestant, Jewish and Catholic beliefs.
At the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), the largest national interfaith, abortion rights organization, we approach the highly personal reproductive decision-making process guided first and foremost by compassion. We acknowledge the complex, challenging and widely varying circumstances each woman confronts and the impact of these choices on her family.

Think about the term "Trump getting an intelligence briefing" for a second.

And then think about the words Trump and intelligence in a sentence without the word lacks.

My guess is that no one at DU can really do that.

That Trump lacks even average intelligence is easy to see. No matter the subject, he demonstrates his ignorance every time that he opens his mouth.

Why do Trump voters not see this? Well, it is difficult to see anything when that MAGA hat is down covering the eyes.

Which story is true, Governor Northam?

He has told 2 contradictory stories so far about the black face/KKK incident in the VMI yearbook.

The first story was that he was very sorry for what he admitted to having done.

The second story is that he never did anything of the sort.

The 2 stories are mutually contradictory. So which version of the truth applies?

And no matter which one Northam expects people to believe, that means that the other is a lie.

Will his story evolve even further?
