Sources: Fox News Has Decided Bill OReilly Has to Go
By Gabriel Sherman
The Murdochs have decided Bill OReillys 21-year run at Fox News will come to an end. According to sources briefed on the discussions, network executives are preparing to announce OReillys departure before he returns from an Italian vacation on April 24. Now the big questions are how the exit will look and who will replace him.
Wednesday morning, according to sources, executives are holding emergency meetings to discuss how they can sever the relationship with the countrys highest-rated cable-news host without causing collateral damage to the network. The board of Fox News parent company, 21st Century Fox, is scheduled to meet on Thursday to discuss the matter.
Sources briefed on the discussions say OReillys exit negotiations are moving quickly. Right now, a key issue on the table is whether he would be allowed to say good-bye to his audience, perhaps the most loyal in all of cable (OReillys ratings have ticked up during the sexual-harassment allegations). Fox executives are leaning against allowing him to have a sign-off, sources say. The other main issue on the table is money. OReilly recently signed a new multiyear contract worth more than $20 million per year. When Roger Ailes left Fox News last summer, the Murdochs paid out $40 million, the remainder of his contract.

Sally Yates, the former acting attorney general, will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee about Russian interference in the election.
The Obama appointee was blocked from testifying before the House Intelligence Committee after its chairman, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), canceled this weeks hearings, where Yates had been scheduled to appear.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the committees vice chairman, told CNN that Yates would testify before a Senate panel even if she did not appear before the House committee.

Top Intel Dem Schiff calls on Nunes to recuse himself from House Russia investigation
By Tom LoBianco and Deirdre Walsh, CNN
(CNN)Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Russia investigation, called on House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes to recuse himself from the investigation in a stunning split between the two top investigators.
"After much consideration, and in light of the Chairman's admission that he met with his source of information at the White House, I believe that the Chairman should recuse himself from any further involvement in the Russia investigation, as well as any involvement in oversight of matters pertaining to any incidental collection of the Trump transition, as he was also a key member of the transition team," Schiff said in a statement Monday, following a meeting of the Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee.
The request marks a critical split between Schiff and Nunes, who had worked closely on the House investigation into ties between top aides to the campaign of President Donald Trump and Russian officials.

House leaders postpone vote on their health-care plan
By Mike DeBonis, Juliet Eilperin and David Weigel March 23 at 3:37 PM
House leaders postponed a vote Thursday on their plan to overhaul the nations health care system, as they struggled to meet demands of conservative lawmakers who said they could not support the bill.
Earlier Thursday, conservative House Republicans had rebuffed an offer by President Trump on Thursday to strip a key set of mandates from the nations current health-care law, raising doubts about whether House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) had the votes.
Trump met at the White House with the most conservative House Republicans, hoping to close a deal that would help ensure passage of the partys health-care plan by shifting it even further to the right. But the session ended with no clear resolution, and some lawmakers said they needed more concessions before they would back the bill.
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), asked whether the White House had made its final negotiating offer, said that if thats the case, Theyre not going to pass the bill.
Talks continued, however, and White House press secretary Sean Spicer said he still anticipated a vote on the measure by days end. Asked whether there was an alternative plan to the current bill, Spicer replied: No. its going to pass. So thats it.

Breitbart and Infowars under investigation for ties to Russia: report
MCCLATCHY WASHINGTON BUREAU
20 MAR 2017 AT 22:18 ET
WASHINGTON Federal investigators are examining whether far-right news sites played any role last year in a Russian cyber operation that dramatically widened the reach of news stories some fictional that favored Donald Trump's presidential bid, two people familiar with the inquiry say.
Operatives for Russia appear to have strategically timed the computer commands, known as "bots," to blitz social media with links to the pro-Trump stories at times when the billionaire businessman was on the defensive in his race against Democrat Hillary Clinton, these sources said.
The bots' end products were largely millions of Twitter and Facebook posts carrying links to stories on conservative internet sites such as Breitbart News and InfoWars, as well as on the Kremlin-backed RT News and Sputnik News, the sources said. Some of the stories were false or mixed fact and fiction, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the bot attacks are part of an FBI-led investigation into a multifaceted Russian operation to influence last year's elections.
Investigators examining the bot attacks are exploring whether the far-right news operations took any actions to assist Russia's operatives. Their participation, however, wasn't necessary for the bots to amplify their news through Twitter and Facebook.
The investigation of the bot-engineered traffic, which appears to be in its early stages, is being driven by the FBI's Counterintelligence Division, whose inquiries rarely result in criminal charges and whose main task has been to reconstruct the nature of the Kremlin's cyberattack and determine ways to prevent another.

Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano is being kept off the air indefinitely amid the controversy over his unverified claims that British intelligence wiretapped Trump Tower at the behest of former President Obama.
Fox News did not respond to inquiries about Napolitanos status Monday. Napolitano was conspicuously missing from the networks coverage of the confirmation hearings on Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch an event in which he typically would have played a significant role. He has not been on the air since Thursday.
People familiar with the situation who could speak only on the condition of anonymity said Napolitano is not expected to be on Fox News Channel any time in the near future. Napolitano was not available for comment.
On March 4, President Trump first tweeted the accusation that Obama ordered his wires tapped in Trump Tower just before the victory.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro came away baffled after President Donald Trump told him in a meeting that some of the anti-Semitic threats to Jewish Community Centers might be false flag operations.
As reported by BuzzFeeds Chris Geidner, the president told Shapiro that while he was horrified by reports of threats against Jewish institutions, he also said that sometimes its the reverse, where the threat was made simply to make others look bad.
Reporter Anna Orso notes that, during his chat with reporters, Shapiro stopped short of saying Trump thinks his supporters are being framed for bomb threats, although the Pennsylvania attorney general seems to think thats what he meant.
