Board to Decide Pension Benefits for Gliniewicz Family

As police continue to investigate the cause of the shooting death of Gliniewicz, who was found dead shortly after he radioed police to say he was pursuing three suspects on Sept. 1, the pension board will have to decide if Gliniewicz’s widow is entitled to the larger benefits providing to spouses of officers killed in the line of duty, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Spouses of officers killed in the line of duty can receive a pension that is equal to 100 percent of the officer’s salary and the spouses and children are eligible for free health insurance, the newspaper reports. Children can receive free tuition at state-supported colleges and the state and federal government give lump-sum benefits worth several hundred thousand dollars to survivors.

Richard Reimer, a Hinsdale attorney who specializes in pension law and a former police officer, told the Chicago Tribune a ruling of suicide, for example, could significantly decrease the benefits allocated to survivors.

Even editorials are asking for the results due to the citizens of this community

It's OK to tell the full truth about the Fox Lake police officer's death

Probe of Illinois officer's death marked by tension between cops, coroner

Late Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that investigators met with the pathologist who performed the autopsy on Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz last week without Lake County coroner Dr. Thomas Rudd's knowledge. The pathologist, identified as Manny Montez, confirmed to the paper that the meeting took place.
"They called me and told me to be present, so I showed up,” Montez said. “We went over my findings. They had copies of my sketches because I haven’t finalized my [autopsy] report yet."

Fox News first reported last week that two sources close to the case say evidence suggests that Gliniewicz, 52, a 30-year veteran of the Fox Lake, Ill. police force, could have shot himself, despite the original characterization of his death as an execution-style murder by police. Authorities say that while they continue to actively investigate the case as a homicide, they say they aren't ruling out suicide.
Rudd told the Sun-Times that he was "totally confused" when told that the meeting had happened without him. Montez's role is to report his autopsy findings to Rudd, who will make the final determination about the cause of Glieniewicz's death.

Meanwhile, Fox 32 Chicago reported that authorities are also still waiting for the result of ballistics and DNA tests that could determine both whether Glinieweicz, 52, was shot with his own service weapon and if unknown DNA found at the scene matches anyone in a criminal database. The station also reported that computers belonging to Gliniewicz are being forensically analyzed at a laboratory and his social media presence is also being scrutinized. However, investigators are still waiting for certain websites to comply with requests by law enforcement.

The drama began on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 1 when Gliniewicz radioed in from a remote, marshy area that he was beginning a foot pursuit with three suspects, two white males and one black male. Shortly after that, his radio communication cut off—leaving police with minimal description of the men.

Minutes later, backup officers arrived and discovered Gliniewicz had been shot and killed. An enormous manhunt followed. Police quickly alerted the public to be on the lookout for the three suspects.

Sources tell Fox News two shell casings were found about 100 feet apart from each other near Gliniewicz’s body, which was discovered face down. His hand was in a gun position, the firearm “dropped at his body.”

I read the police did visit Rudd's house unexpectedly where he lives with his family to talk to him.....hmm more tension what is going on here ??
Is the police force just being anxious and pressuring the final say too soon
or trying to change the outcome?
Or is the coroner not helping with the investigation to find the killers enough so they are bypassing him and doing an analysis of the pathology reports themselves for leads?

"Like Feeding a Stray Dog" What People in a Rich Neighborhood Say About the Homeless

But a big contingent express mockery, disgust and outright hatred of the men and women pictured. Here are a few more examples:

A photo of a man sleeping on the sidewalk: "We almost tripped up over this guy on 27th street! Just now. 311 called. Going to be a long hot stinky summer!"

Shirtless guy falling asleep against a building: "Nodding out today at 3pm, 30th & 2nd. I guess he is dreaming about exercising his right to vote, or something equally monumental."

A man sitting on a park bench: "Fancy taking the kids to Vincent Albano? With this guy sat there staring at the play area? Not me!"

"Just to remind everyone. It is really important that we never give money to any vagrant, it is just like feeding a stray dog, if they get some scraps, they will keep coming back."

"They take food stamps on our dime and take over our neighborhood that we all worked hard to live in. Enough is enough. I am all for supporting the handicapped but not lazy, freeloading scum."

A guy with a cart full of belongings that includes a stuffed toy. "I'd call
911 and say he's soliciting children. It's time to take this up a level and get these guys out."

A picture of a man in a hoodie, who actually doesn't look homeless, triggers a meltdown from several members. "Why would anyone wish to wear a 'hoodie' pulled up over their head on a mild day? Panhandler this morning, [name redacted] are right they sure are revenue raisers! 911 called."
It continues: "Yeah, whenever I see a hoodie pulled up like that it's suspicious. The individual is attempting to conceal their identity. On a mild day it's very suspicious." Another says he misses the "old days when a person loitering with a hood over their head on a warm day would be busted."

Cop Writes Man a Ticket for Broken Windshield as He’s Getting it Fixed

Shop owner David Sprague and his crew were astonished by the actions of this overzealous officer and said that there was no reason to pull Berlin over in the first place.

“We were just standing here in our door and were ready for his appointment and all of the sudden we see a cop out there writing the guy a ticket, We were pretty astounded to think that was what happened,” Sprague said.

“He had plenty of visibility on the driver side,” he added.

While the Sheriff’s Department has refused to comment on the issue, the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado pointed out that this is an illustration of how police are more concerned with enforcing codes and writing tickets than actually protecting people.

“The more and more police officers see their role as ticketing as opposed to protecting public safety, that has a tendency to erode the public trust,” Denise Maes of the ACLU said.

California Becomes First State to Label Monsanto’s Roundup as a Carcinogen

According to a “notice of intent” issued last week by the Cal/EPA’s California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), the effort falls under California’s Proposition 65, in which the state is required to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm.

The same law, otherwise known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, also requires that certain substances identified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) — the World Health Organization’s cancer arm — be listed as known to cause cancer.

The state agency’s Sept. 4 announcement follows a classification of glyphosate by the IARC as “probably carcinogenic to humans” in March.

“Case-control studies of occupational exposure in the USA, Canada, and Sweden reported increased risks for non-Hodgkin lymphoma that persisted after adjustment for other pesticides,” the IARC said about the herbicide. There is also “convincing evidence” that it can cause cancer in laboratory animals.

"Monsanto continues to join with the agricultural industry in strongly disagreeing with IARC's classification. Glyphosate is an effective and valuable tool for farmers and other users, including many in the State of California. During the upcoming comment period, we will provide detailed scientific information to OEHHA about the safety of glyphosate and work to ensure that any potential listing will not affect glyphosate use or sales in California," Lord said.

Working Class Hero

Lennon told the January 1971 edition of Rolling Stone about this song: "I think its concept is revolutionary, and I hope it's for workers and not for tarts and fags. I hope it's what "Give Peace A Chance" was about, but I don't know. On the other hand, it might just be ignored. I think it's for the people like me who are working class - whatever, upper or lower - who are supposed to be processed into the middle classes, through the machinery, that's all. It's my experience, and I hope it's just a warning to people. I'm saying it's a revolutionary song; not the song itself but that it's a song for the revolution."
