I occasionally read articles at newswer, and you can block people there, but you can read replies to them. I like doing that so while I'm no longer exposed to their negativity, I can see the replies to them and get a sense of other users reactions to them. That way I can follow most of the discussion.
Ignore here is a) block them from mailing you, or b) block them from mailing, all their posts, and all replies to their posts. I did that to someone here, then went back to the discussion and it was like a completely different thread. It just eviscerated the contents including many replies I agreed with or found thoughtful.
Since Earl G is redoing the site, maybe he can set up a newser/disqus style of direct post muffling, but revealing the replies. As it is, the site is like that pretty much already, as I'll see posts hidden or removed by writer. If this suggestion is implemented, it would be a) blocked from mailing, b) comment ignore, or c) full ignore.

Freedumb
The more I read this word on DU, the more this came to mind... https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/The_Omega_Glory_(episode)
Star Trek: TOS had a jingoistic episode called 'The Omega Glory". Ignoring the disease immunity plot that revolved around the other Captain, the world they were on had Asian looking Kohms vs the savage (and white, and blond) Yangs. The other capt. backed the Kohms, while Kirk sympathized with the Yangs. Toward the end, someone said the word 'freedom'. The Yang leader said it was a worship word, exclusive to them, and brought in a stars and stripes flag and a copy of their holy text, the first few words of which they prounounce "E Pablista". Yada yada, Kirk fights the other captain and wins while Spock gets the leader's babe to give him a communicator so they can get help. Kirk takes the text and explains he didn't understand because they said it wrong. The words are "We the People..."
The Yangs (Yanks) can't read anymore, they don't understand the basis of their beliefs or culture. It became a religion, reduced to pure tribalism, defining them solely by their enemity to the Kohms (Communists). Sound familiar?
Freedumb is their worship word.
Death of Hillsborough GOP member from COVID-19 causes financial problems for party
Source: Tampaybay.com
The Hillsborough County Republican Party alerted federal election regulators Tuesday that it may file its monthly campaign finance reports late because a key member of the organization died Saturday from COVID-19.
Prior to his death, Gregg Prentice developed and maintained software that electronically tracked donations to the Hillsborough County GOP and supplied data for the organizations monthly finance reports. None of the other officers knew how to operate Prentices software, the party told the the Federal Elections Commission.
We will be struggling to get all of this entered in the proper format by our deadline on September20, but we will try to do so with our best effort, the party wrote.
A call and text message to county party chairman Jim Waurishuk were not returned.

I'm conflicted. I almost don't want to laugh about this, because this group has engaged in covid denialism shenanigans and it seems ironic.. Almost.

Morons... seriously.
"Gondor has no King" cited in bonkers lawsuit.
Why yes, the Judicial Branch should be able to issue a TRO suspending the Biden Aministration and all of Congress on the basis of a few states not appropriately determining that people were voting for the first time, and should use the precedent set by the Right Honorable J. R. R. Tolkien and establish a group of Stewards over Goverment in the fashion of Trustees over a failed business, why did you ask?
