Bernie or Trump supporters? It shouldn't be this hard to tell them apart

Bernie Sanders concedes the evening of the Nevada caucuses. Now supporters have lost their shit that Sanders STILL lost Nevada.

Bernie Sanders lost the delegate battle at the Nevada State Democratic convention this past weekend, which only makes sense since he lost the state when voters voted. However, that didn’t stop one of the biggest explosions of outright crazy in Democratic politics in … forever. Armando debunked the insane conspiracy theories here and here, but of course that’s not stopping what can now only be described as crazies from outright crossing the line, viciously harassing State Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange. Here’s a sample:

MALE CALLER: Hi, Berta Lange. This is a citizen of the United States of America, and I just wanted to let you know that I think people like you should be hung in a public execution to show this world that we won't stand for this sort of corruption. I don't know what kind of money they're paying for you, but I don't know how you sleep at night. You are a sick, twisted piece of shit, and I hope you'll burn for this. And you can return my call at (619) 838-9222. I'd love to go into further detail with you about this, though I am sure you don't have the courage to do so, you cowardless bitch, running off the stage. I hope people find you.

That number has been disconnected, by the way. You know, because of all that courage … Want more? I’ll give you more.

MALE CALLER: You fucking stupid bitch! What the hell are you doing? You’re a fucking corrupt bitch! That is so fucking wrong. You should be ashamed and disgraced. You need to step down from that position because you are bad for America and bad for the Democratic Party. That was fucking bullshit today. You need to step down. You’re a disgrace

MALE CALLER: Oh Roberta, Roberta, Roberta, you old, old hag. Oh, we watched the whole thing in Nevada. You’re really kinda screwed, lady. Um, yeah. Really stupid. Fuck you.

MALE CALLER: Fuck you, bitch

FEMALE CALLER: Hi Roberta, I’m just sitting home in Massachusetts watching all the video that was filmed tonight when you were chairing the Nevada convention. Classy move. By the way, if Bernie’s not on there, we’re voting Trump. It’s agreed. You should read Facebook and Twitter. Wow! You’re really popular and trending right now. You wouldn’t believe it. (Laughs)

MALE CALLER: That was pretty terrible. You probably just guaranteed fire is in Philadelphia. I’m not a psycho Bernie supporter, but there are some out there and you may have made a bad decision by completely ignoring the democratic process tonight. Thanks

And what’s the Sanders campaign doing to tamp down this insanity? About as much as Trump did to tamp down the violence at his rallies.

ALEX SEITZ-WALD
New: When asked about Nevada Dem convention today, Bernie Sanders walked away mid-Q, @DannyEFreeman reports.

This is no longer a presidential campaign. I don’t know what it is, but that moment has passed.

Update—More:

And yet more:

Irate Berne Sanders supporters did not just leave threatening voicemails and texts for state Democratic Party Chairwoman Roberta Lange but also launched an assault on the businesses she oversees, the owner says [...]

"Beginning about 3am on Sunday morning our bartenders at Porchlight Grille began getting non-stop phone threats from Bernie partisans," Gallagher told me via email. "The level of threats including death threats and vitriol was astonishing. One of our bartenders was actually a Bernie supporter and was stunned at the threats he was hearing on the phone. He began to respond telling people that he was just trying to do his job and pay off his student loans and their tactics were harming his livelihood. It made no difference to the callers. Their goal was to harass and as became clear....to shut down the business and Roberta’s job with it."

Gallagher said the calls continued during the day Sunday until the eatery disconnected the phone.

"At one point on Sunday before we unplugged the phones, I took a turn at answering and experienced such a nasty call that a Metro officer who happened to be in the tavern as a customer picked up the call and attempted to encourage the woman to stop, explaining that what she was doing was unlawful harassment," Gallagher told me. "It made no difference. She actually responded that it was her right of free speech."

Another update: Nevada Democratic Part explains what really happened. Surprisingly, turns out the Clinton campaign out-organized the Sanders campaign, who didn’t fill all its available delegate slots.

(And btw, what a stupid way to allocate delegates...)

CNN Panel Rips Sanders: Not ‘Above the Fray,’ Supporters ‘Traffic in Conspiracy Theories’

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnn-panel-rips-sanders-not-above-the-fray-supporters-traffic-in-conspiracy-theories/

CNN panelists piled on Bernie Sanders this afternoon and took on some of the more concerning elements surrounding his campaign.

The discussion focused on what Jake Tapper referred to as an “ugly convention” in Nevada, where Sanders supporters got angry and violent and threatening. Sanders issued a statement offering a general condemnation of violence, but that is not tamping down the outrage.

New York Times correspondent and CNN analyst Maggie Haberman called out the narrative that Sanders is “above politics and above the fray” when he is engaging in “character attacks” about Clinton in questioning her Wall Street ties.

And on top of that, CNN senior political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson said that Sanders has “taken the low road” in some of the accusations he’s thrown at Clinton about collusion.

“His supporters,” she said, “sometimes kind of do traffic in conspiracy theories and this idea that somehow the DNC is rigged against them.”

Bill Maher to Republicans: Don’t Blame Liberals, ‘Trump is Your Problem’

http://www.mediaite.com/online/bill-maher-to-republicans-dont-blame-liberals-trump-is-your-problem/

by Sam Reisman

On Real Time Friday night, Bill Maher shredded the notion that liberals were somehow to blame for the ascendance of Donald Trump

Maher took aim at a host of “think pieces” propelled by the dubious thesis that liberals’ “condescension and political correctness forced otherwise reasonable people into Trump’s hateful embrace.”

Trump voters, he said sarcastically, “would vote rationally if not for overbearing liberals, scientists, and historians and nutritionists telling real Americans that they’re dumb. It hurts their feelings when we insult their values with our facts.”

“I’m sorry you find it irritating when liberals point out that global warming exists or that racism exists or that gay people exist. But here’s the thing: You people were wrong about all that,” Maher said.

Liberals were to blame for many things, he averred — such as the man-bun and gluten free cupcakes. But conservatives allergic to facts and impermeable to reason, propelled by an implacable hatred of Muslims and Mexicans, are to blame to for The Donald, said Maher.

Maher pointed to his own record of mocking political incorrectness, observing that the progressive left is prone to outrageous overreaches and overreactions, but “none of that justifies embracing a dangerous buffoon simply because his lack of political correctness is cathartic. Trump is your problem. But somehow the party of personal responsibility doesn’t want to take responsibility for this one.”

‘The Guy’s Got More Positions Than a Porn Star!’ Fox Guests Fight Over Trump

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/the-guys-got-more-positions-than-a-porn-star-fox-guests-fight-over-trump/

Conservative author Brad Thor and Donald Trump supporter David Wohl got in a fierce battle on Fox News tonight over Thor’s Facebook post yesterday saying he absolutely can’t bring himself to support Trump because of his “authoritarianism.”

Thor said the way Trump is conducting himself when it comes to running for the most important job in the world is horrible, citing how personal and nasty he’s gotten with attacks on rivals. Wohl countered that people love it when Trump “gets down and dirty with people.”

Thor proceeded to say that Trump has “most positions than a porn star” and cried, “I don’t want Don Rickles in the White House!”

He said the onus is on Trump to woo conservatives like him, but Wohl insisted that since Trump has already won the nomination, “it’s up to you” to get behind Trump, lest people like Thor end up as “de facto Hillary Clinton surrogates.”

George Zimmerman Says He’s Auctioning Off His Gun from Trayvon Martin Shooting

http://www.mediaite.com/online/george-zimmerman-says-hes-auctioning-off-his-gun-from-trayvon-martin-shooting/

by Josh Feldman

George Zimmerman is auctioning off the gun he used to fatally shoot Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, who was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter after arguing self-defense, explained in an interview with WOGX, “I’m a free American. I can do what I like with my possessions.”

He said he got the gun back after the trial, and thinks he should auction it off because “it’s time to move past the firearm, and if I sell it and it sells, and I move past it.”

Caught: Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders Have Both Defended Hillary on Iraq

http://bluenationreview.com/donald-trump-and-bernie-sanders-have-both-defended-hillary-on-iraq/

Donald Trump is using the Bernie Sanders attack playbook against Hillary. But just like Bernie, his attacks are falling flat.

Last month, in an interview with Charlie Rose, Bernie was confronted over his assertion that Hillary “should apologize for Iraq war deaths.”

Rose asked Bernie if he really blames her and Bernie admitted to playing “tit for tat,” saying, “Of course she doesn’t bear responsibility… Do I hold her accountable? No.”

Tad Devine, Bernie’s top adviser, was on Meet The Press in August 2004, and said, “John Kerry does not regret his vote to authorize the use of force in Iraq. What he deeply regrets is what the president did with that authority. … Tim, again, the authorization was the right vote, it was the right choice.”

Finally, we now have news that even Donald Trump, who keeps slamming Hillary over the same vote, knows better. He told Maureen Dowd in a 2006 interview:

“Don’t forget that decision was based on lies given to her,” he says. “She’s very smart and has a major chance to be our next president.”

So next time you see Hillary being attacked about her AUMF vote, remember that Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have both come to her defense on it.

A Conscience of Convenience

http://www.thepeoplesview.net/main/2016/5/6/a-conscience-of-convenience

JoPat Wellman, Guest Blogger May 6, 2016

Many Bernie Sanders supporters who call themselves progressives are now threatening to sit out the general election if their candidate isn't the Democratic nominee. They claim voting for Hillary Clinton would violate their morals and compromise their conscience. The irony would seem obvious; they already did both when they decided to back Bernie Sanders. By refusing to cast a vote, these progressives aren’t obeying their conscience but instead creating a conscience of convenience.

Progressives supporting Sanders compromised their values when they turned their backs on the gun control movement by making excuses for Bernie's five votes against the Brady bill and his vote to give gun manufacturers immunity. Suddenly their deep concern for all the moms and pops who sell guns now trumps the lives of thousands of potential victims.

Progressives who refuse to vote trampled on their own values when they decided all corporations were evil except gun manufacturers. They were so righteous in their beliefs that they condescendingly attacked the parents and families of the Sandy Hook victims by accusing them of being exploited by Hillary Clinton. Do those Progressives think they are the only ones with the privilege to use the political system to affect change? Do they see everyone else as too naive to see they are being manipulated? It appears that way to many of us.

Courage: Iconic Image of Female Hillary Supporter Running Gauntlet of Male Protesters

http://bluenationreview.com/iconic-image-of-hillary-supporter-running-gauntlet-of-protesters/

The untold heroes of the 2016 election are the millions of Hillary supporters who, despite being disregarded, demeaned and marginalized, have carried Hillary to victory after historic victory.

In the face of a colossal onslaught, Hillary’s voters have shown dignity, courage and resilience, defying relentlessly negative media narratives and personal attacks to express their support for Hillary. Their indomitability mirrors Hillary’s.

The photo of a young women with her fists raised, proudly expressing her support for Hillary in the face of a group of (mostly) male anti-Hillary protesters, encapsulates the 2016 election. It conjures 227 years of history, as described in this moving Facebook comment:

When I voted in 2008 for Barack Obama, I was very aware of the people on whose shoulders I was standing. Casting that particular vote felt both sacred and solemn. When I cast my vote for Hillary Clinton for President, I will be casting a vote for my suffragette great-grandmothers, for my grandmothers who dared to enter male-dominated careers, for my mother who worked globally to bring healthcare to women and equal rights to all people, and for the young women who will stand on my shoulders.
