Op-ed by Bernie Sanders for The Washington Post

-snip-
Today, there is universal access to free, public schools across the United States for kindergarten through 12th grade. That didn’t happen by presidential decree. It took populist pressure from the progressive movement, beginning in the 1890s, to make widespread access to free public schools a reality. By 1940, half of all young people were graduating from high school. As of 2013, that number is 81 percent. But that achievement is no longer enough. A college degree is the new high school diploma.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders

Way back in the 1970s Exxon's scientists did studies and found that climate change was real and potentially very dangerous. Exxon proceeded to spend millions of dollars denying climate change over the next several decades.

SEIU Local endorses Bernie Sanders

-snip-
The Service Employees International Union Local 560 is endorsing Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

“Bernie Sanders is the most honest man in Washington,” said Earl Sweet, president of SEIU Local 560, in a statement from the campaign. “There’s no question about what Bernie Sanders believes because he has always meant what he said - and to many of us in the labor movement, that’s a breath of fresh air.”

The union local, based in Hanover, represents more than 500 workers across the energy, trades, dining, custodial, security and hospitality industries, according to the campaign.

Analysis: Biden Decision a Blow to Sanders ?

-snip-
"With Mr. Biden out, Mrs. Clinton is positioned to consolidate a key combination of elite support and moderate voters," Cohn wrote. "The evidence of Mrs. Clinton’s gains could start to trickle in almost immediately, since she was the second choice of nearly all of Mr. Biden’s voters in public opinion polls over the last month."

Biden's decision isn't all bad news for Sanders. Had the VP joined the race, he would have stolen some of the limelight enjoyed by the Vermont senator in recent months. Without him, Sanders remains the chief alternative to Clinton, which means he'll continue to draw headlines and can continue to spread his message to those unfamiliar with it.
