National Union of Healthcare Workers endorses Bernie Sanders for president

-snip-
PASADENA — Nearly 200 elected rank-and-file leaders representing 11,000 members of the National Union of Healthcare Workers voted 72% to endorse Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary at the union’s annual Leadership Conference, convened October 10 in Pasadena, Calif.

Senator Sanders’ message of reversing economic inequalities; his support for a single-payer healthcare system, Medicare for All; and his stance of holding HMOs like Kaiser Permanente accountable for failing to comply with mental health parity laws, resonated with NUHW members.

Tulsi Gabbard was uninvited to debates after calling for more.

Washington (CNN)If Rep. Tulsi Gabbard needs a ticket to Tuesday night's Democratic debate -- Bernie Sanders has her covered.

That was the message of Sanders' campaign manager on Monday, responding to a report that the Hawaii Democrat had been uninvited from attending the debate by the Democratic National Committee.

"If she needs a ticket, have her give me a call," Jeff Weaver said on CNN's "New Day" on Monday. "I think we have a couple; we can give her one."

Look at the first paragraph in this article. I sent an email to this author correcting him.

He makes it sound like Bernie has been copying Hillary.

I think more people should do the same.
Just my two cents.

California voters to be automatically registered at DMV

As I recall, another one of Bernie's issues.

-snip-
AB1461 by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, aims to boost California's voter rolls by registering visitors to the Department of Motor Vehicles and was among dozens of bills that Brown announced Saturday he had signed.

It follows Oregon's move earlier this year to adopt the nation's first automatic voter registration law.

The legislation backed by Democratic Secretary of State Alex Padilla calls for data collected by the DMV to be provided to the secretary of state's office, which would verify a resident's legal eligibility to vote before registering them. Drivers would have the option to opt out or cancel their voter registration at any time.

CNN’s Double-Standards on Debates

-snip-
For decades, mainstream U.S. news outlets have bent over backwards to appease conservatives and avoid the stigma “liberal media,” but there has been no similar accommodation for progressives, as Jeff Cohen notes about CNN’s handling of the upcoming Democratic debate.

By Jeff Cohen

At the CNN-sponsored Republican Party debate last month at the Reagan presidential library, one of the three panelists CNN selected to question the candidates was conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, affiliated with the proudly right-wing Salem Radio Network. But at Tuesday’s upcoming Democratic Party debate, CNN is not planning to include a single progressive advocate among its panel of four questioners.
