Fellow Richmonders and others nearby! There is March for Bernie Sanders happening on January 23rd

-snip-
Please, come and join the political revolution and march with us! We will meet in Monroe Park on VCU's campus, in the center, next to the fountain. Then we will march down N Belvidere St and then take a left onto Broad St, and continue marching for about 20 to 30 minutes.
We will March at noon. Arrive at 11:30 am so we have some time to gather and even practice some chants. Remember, this is a peaceful march. Please bring signs or wear clothing that raises awareness regarding the real issues facing our nation and even the world as well ( raising the minimum wage, climate change, etc.) and in support of Bernie Sanders.

RSVP now for DFA Live with Bernie Sanders: Thursday, Jan. 7

-snip-
RSVP now to join Senator Bernie Sanders on Thursday, January 7 at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT for a special "DFA Live" conference call, moderated by Charles Chamberlain, Democracy for America's Executive Director.

Bernie will give important updates on his campaign for president, let you know what you can do right now to help him win in Iowa and New Hampshire -- and he'll take questions from DFA members like you.

Together, Bernie and DFA are building a political revolution. And there's not a moment to lose. With less than a month to go before the first Democratic primaries, this is a great chance to bypass the media filter and hear directly from the candidate himself about his groundbreaking campaign. Will you join us to chat with Bernie and ask him about the presidential campaign and the most important issues facing Americans before voters go to the polls in February?

‘Clinton Is Wrong’: Bernie Sanders, In New York, Rips Apart Wall Street and His Rival

-snip-
Declaring that “greed is not good” and Wall Street’s “fraud” and “dishonesty” had sunk the American economy, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont vowed to aggressively regulate and reform the financial industry, building on many of the themes he has espoused during his insurgent campaign.

Mr. Sanders, reflecting an ongoing shift in the campaign as the first primaries and caucuses grow near, blasted Hillary Clinton, his top rival, for proposing overhauls of Wall Street that some liberals say don’t go far enough.

“Greed, fraud, dishonesty and arrogance, these are the words that best describe the reality of Wall Street today,” Mr. Sanders, an independent and self-described democratic socialist, said today at Town Hall in Midtown, just a few miles from Wall Street. “So, to those on Wall Street who may be listening today, let me be very clear. Greed is not good. In fact, the greed of Wall Street and corporate America is destroying the fabric of our nation.”

Mr. Sanders took aim at large financial institutions which had received bailouts following the 2008 crash, calling for so-called “too big to fail” banks to be eliminated. He said that within the first 100 days his administration, he would require the secretary of the Treasury Department to establish a “too big to fail” list of commercial banks, “shadow” banks and insurance companies whose failure would pose a “catastrophic risk” to the United States economy without a taxpayer bailout. Within a year, he said, he would break up these institutions.

Prepared Remarks; Wall Street and the Economy

-snip-
Speaking a few subway stops away from the epicenter of the global financial crisis, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders promised to remake the financial system to serve America’s working families. Below are his prepared remarks. Watch the live stream here.

The American people are catching on. They understand that something is profoundly wrong when, in our country today, the top one-tenth of 1 percent own almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent and when the 20 richest people own more wealth than the bottom 150 million Americans – half of our population. They know that the system is rigged when the average person is working longer hours for lower wages, while 58 percent of all new income goes to the top 1 percent.

They also know that a handful of people on Wall Street have extraordinary power over the economic and political life of our country. As most people know, in the 1990s and later, the financial interests spent billions of dollars in lobbying and campaign contributions to force through Congress the deregulation of Wall Street, the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act and the weakening of consumer protection laws in states.

They spent this money in order to get the government off their backs and to show the American people what they could do with that new-won freedom. Well, they sure showed the American people. In 2008, the greed, recklessness and illegal behavior on Wall Street nearly destroyed the U.S. and global economy.

ONLINE RALLY ON JANUARY 23RD - EVERY BERNIE SUPPORTER INVITED - LET'S DO IT!!!!

-snip-
Message from campaign:

Bernie Sanders for President Dear xxxxxx,

You are one of the key organizers who have made this campaign what it is. By organizing events, you have shown the strength of Bernie’s movement and brought in thousands of new organizers and supporters.

Now we’ve got some exciting news just for you: Bernie wants to speak directly to all supporters again in a special live address on Saturday, January 23rd, at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

In the final days before the Democratic primary begins in Iowa, you'll hear from Bernie about the most important things you can do to take this movement all the way to the White House.

Will you organize a January 23rd event at a public venue? If you will, please consult with other members of your local team and click here to get your event on the map.

January 23rd is just nine days before the Iowa caucus. By organizing this event, you’ll be helping Bernie to get tens of thousands of volunteers plugged directly into the work that we all need to be doing to help ensure victory in Iowa, New Hampshire, and all the way through to your state.

We want to see hundreds of events around the country at theaters, union halls, VFWs, pubs, and all the other locations you all have been using so far.

We also want to see thousands of events at homes and other smaller locations. If you’re not up for organizing something big this time, you can help by holding a smaller gathering at your house.

January is going to be amazing — leading right up to February victories that few believed were possible a short time ago.

In solidarity,

Jeff Weaver Bernie 2016

THIS IS WHAT WEVE BEEN WAITING FOR! A CHANCE TO SHOW'EM ALL JUST HOW FAR WE'VE COME!

Wisniewski Endorses Sanders for President (Democratic superdelegate)

-snip-

Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-19) gave his official endorsement to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for president Monday night.

“As a member of the State Assembly for nearly 20 years and a former chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, I have seen first hand the dissatisfaction among Democrats that exists for business as usual,” Wisniewski said.

Wisniewski, a Democratic superdelegate and the former New Jersey chairman, will be appearing with Sanders tomorrow, Tuesday January 5 in New York for a speech calling for reforms on Wall Street.

“Our most vulnerable populations face enormous challenges, while at the same time many of our state’s big corporations and political insiders continue to rake in millions in government contracts and massive tax subsidies. The working family, the middle class taxpayer, the public school student and the senior citizen continue to be the victim of our state and nation’s political culture, and I believe that the Sanders campaign represents a chance to finally break free from this legacy of insider dealing and corruption.”
