Am I going to hell?

The custodian at work has been a very vocal supporter of Trump for months now. It is an outsourced company and I am sure he is not paid much so I just keep my mouth shut. Plus politics is not really discussed at my work place as we are a big, diverse company.

Well apparently this guy has never voted before and yesterday he confirmed that I do vote and he asked me what he needed to do.

I told him to find his nearest voting location and show up on Election Day. And now I feel a little guilty. I grew up having the importance of civics instilled in me at home, in school and even church, which I no longer attend. So the going to hell question was rhetorical.

Should I correct myself next week? If I thought I could change his vote I would in a heart beat.

Have a great weekend

What gives with all the green party shit?

As my post count tells I am pretty new here. So can someone please explain to me why there are so many threads about a candidate who is going to get less than 2% of the national vote and whose voters will never vote for Hillary anyway?

Is it Bernie or Busters trying to find a way to come here and stir shit? Or Hillary fans trying to rub their faces into it? Perhaps there are more people than I realize concerned about the effect the greens will have. Or is it folks who have been here a long time fighting battles I can not understand?

I mean, they do not really bother me, but if I wanted to talk about leftist wingnuts I would go to other sites.

Have a nice evening.

LBJ was so very wrong.

He predicted that signing the Civil Rights act would cost the Democratic Party the South for a generation. He could not predict the cynicism and duplicity of the Republicans of the time since he saw Goldwater as a fluke. He never thought that the party of Lincoln would stoop to using the 'Southern Strategy' they ended up using. Playing to the racism in the South. Especially since Republicans had been key to passing the law in the first place.

But they did. And perhaps this is the best gift Trump is giving us. He has no guiding principle and no beliefs. And it is apparent that he is the candidate of the most reactionary, bigoted and small thinking of our electorate.

The south is finally getting to see what bigotry, boiled down to it's most concentrated essence looks like. It seem that there is at least a stirring of folks rejecting it when Virginia is a solid Democratic state and NC is considered a likely win. Even Georgia is being talked about in good terms. And my current state, Florida, is going to go blue for the 3rd straight time.

My family has been southern for over 400 years. I pray that before I die the region returns to the Democratic party, but the one of LBJ not Jackson.

After the conventions, the Clinton-Kaine ticket leads the Trump-Pence ticket by 10 points (49-39 percent) in the race for the White House. Clinton’s advantage is outside the poll’s margin of error. A month ago, Clinton was up by six points (44-38 percent, June 26-28).
