http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2016/04/25/paul-ryan-continues-to-push-agenda-alternative-to-donald-trump/Hmmm...
Mr. Ryan, who plans to roll out a policy platform this spring, has already been trying to build a social media and youth movement around the House Republican agenda. This week, Mr. Ryan will participate in a town-hall-style event at the Georgetown Institute of Politics and Public Service. In advance of that event, his office has rolled out its latest video holding up Mr. Ryan as a man with a plan, though the details of that plan, obliquely intended to distract from the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump, are very much a work in progress.
I cant believe he is gone...dammit
http://time.com/4304420/prince-dead-michael-jackson-james-brown-stage-concert-1983-watch-video/The musicians of Democratic Underground know about Prince....
Easily one of the best rocknroll guitar players of all time, maybe in the top 5, think about what that means.
Played how many instruments? 12 I think.
Wrote songs that are masterpieces.
Performed them equally.
The guy was one of the greatest musicians, songwriters of all time, in a very very small group of unique and wonderful talents.
Gonna really miss him.
Makes me now wonder where Rolling Stone ranked him when they did the all time guitar players.
Just looked at Rolling Stone, that list is embarrassing. They got some of it right but most of it way wrong.
Lynching Clarence Thomas...
I am watching the movie, "Confirmation", and I was reminded of what the idiot said about being lynched.
Race only matters to Clarence when he can use it, per a line in the movie.
If a Clarence Thomas or an openly gay hater or openly black hater was appointed by a republican, the current republicans would still support that person.
Simple question for everybody, two maybe...
1. Prefer medicare for all/single payer or ACA (acknowledging up front ACA is a vast improvement over what we now have and Obama is to be considered a GREAT president for passing ACA)
2. Prefer $15 an hour MW over $12 or no change
3. Want wall street legislation that taxes them on transactions and use that money to build our infrastructure, or dont do that?
One person wants this and is willing to say so over and over, so what is wrong if he cant actually accomplish it all or overnight?
Dont we want someone who at least talks about this stuff and you know he means it?
We have one chance to elect someone who is truly different from the status quo, one.
And of course we will support Hillary if nominated, but how about we nominate Bernie instead!
Bernie drops the mic on Larry Wilmore

Democratic Underground should be focused on supporting both of our great candidates.
Obama Has Granted More Commutations Than the Past 6 Presidents Combined
More than a third of the 61 inmates were serving life sentences on charges related to possession and distribution of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana. Unlike recent rounds of commutations, however, none of them were serving life sentences for marijuana-only crimes. As Mother Jones has reported in the past, scores of so-called pot lifers remain behind bars.
Going to North Carolina anytime soon?

Source: New York Magazine
Tennessee's House of Representatives just passed a bill that would allow therapists who believe homosexuality is the mark of Satan to refuse to treat gay clients. More precisely, the bill allows mental-health counselors to deny treatment to anyone who seeks help with "goals, outcomes, or behaviors that conflict with the sincerely held principles of the counselors or therapist." If the bill makes it into law, Tennessee would be the first state to allow therapists to pick what kind of clients they're willing to serve.

Gee, I wonder if a republican president, House and Senate would make this even worse.
