Someone help me understand the thought process of the 1%

Them being the 1% means there is a 99%. They want to gut the social safety and want people working for peanuts. I understand that, they run massive corporations and want cheap labor. However, do they understand that if people have no disposable income they are not going to be in a position to buy all of the goods and services that their massive corporations produce? This in turn will mean that they cannot sell the product that they paid to have produced and they will incur massive losses and eventually join the 99%. I am being totally naive in think that this is basic economics?

If things were different, would she have taken the oath wearing this.....

After the CIA speech I think Trump will not last long.....

It's obvious that they will invoke the 25th amendment and Pence will be 46 sooner than we thought. I wonder what happens to the likes of Bannon, Kushner, Conaway etc.

Today marks a new beginning for America....

Inaguration Day brings change to D.C. and the rest of the country. It may not be change will like, but it's change none the less. I think all Democrats today should pledge to put aside their differences and serve as a united opposition to the new regime.

Will they be required to Curtsey/Bow at the next State of the Union Address

as Trump enters the Chambers to address them? Will he arrive in a gilded state coach with Ivanka dripping in diamonds like the Queen of England does?

Has the 2016 Postmortem forum outlived it's purpose

Now that it is settled and we are getting Cheeto Jesus as 45, should the forum be closed down? All I see in there is a rehash of the same conversations over and over again, assigning blame to various players etc. I think the intent of the forum was to enable discussion on what we could do differently as a party and what we learned from the 2016 race. I don't see many conversation around that, mostly just trying to assign blame (whether deserved or not--it does not change the outcome)

The age of the celebrity politician

Are we at the stage where we need a politician to be a celebrity to elect them?

In the US we elected Trump, a reality TV host. We elected an actor Governor of California and have previously elected celebrities to congress (and the WH)

In Canada, they have Trudeau (a liberal) who's fast becoming the selfie king. Before he became PM, he appeared shirtless in a boxing match and had no issues taking his shirt off on TV.

Other countries have elected celebrities to be their head of government or head of state.

What the fuck is going on here!????

What going on with the faithless electors

It seems we have a decent number of faithless electors on our side. What is going on, really? This to me highlight's our problems as a party. We can never have the "sheeple" following the republicans have.

I have a feeling Melania will not be Mrs Trump for long

Think about it... She likes to stay in NY in the Trump tower. Trump can divorce her and leave her there. She'll keep Barron and we're on the hook for SS for him till he turns 18, so she'l have massive protection AND get to live the life she wants. And, Trump can publicly start auditioning for the next Mrs Trump--who gets to be FLOTUS

Left leaning shift in the news media. When?

When do you anticipate that to happen? Republicans don't watch anything but Faux News and Trump's base does not watch news, so when us liberals stop watching news, their ratings will sink and they'll move to "reporting" that will attract a left-leaning audience again
