Irish Government to appeal Apple ruling

The Cabinet has agreed to appeal the EU Commission ruling that Ireland had supplied illegal state aid worth €13bn to Apple.

The decision was taken after a half-hour Cabinet meeting that headed off the danger of a rift with independent ministers.

Independent Alliance Minister John Halligan earlier said it was his personal view that Apple should pay the €13bn.

The junior minister at the Department of Jobs will go to his local organisation in Waterford at the weekend to consult them on the Apple issue.

He said he does not want to bring down the Government and wants to remain in Government.

Mr Halligan said his main priority is the delivery of increased cardiac services at University Hospital Waterford.

Fine Gael ministers, however, argued that an appeal had to be lodged to challenge a ruling that had deep implications for inward investment.

Sanity prevails.

Republicans starting to go all Jesuitical

Jesuitical
or Jesuitic

[jezh-oo-it-i-kuh l or jezh-oo-it-ik; jez-oo-, jez-yoo-]

adjective

1. of or relating to Jesuits or Jesuitism.

2. (often lowercase) practicing casuistry or equivocation; using subtle or over subtle reasoning; crafty; sly; intriguing.

References in classic literature

Montcalm has got him, and with the accursed politeness of his nation, he has sent him in with a doleful tale, of 'knowing how I valued the fellow, he could not think of retaining him' A Jesuitical way that, Major Duncan Heyward, of telling a man of his misfortunes

It was a jesuitical, cold, unfeeling, and selfish manner, that seemed to say, “I have kept within the law,” to the man he had so cruelly injured.

Well, let me tell you that if I hate anyone here--I hate you all," he cried, in a hoarse, strained voice-" but you, you, with your jesuitical soul, your soul of sickly sweetness, idiot, beneficent millionaire--I hate you worse than anything or anyone on earth

The liberal scandal- mongers delighted in representing the Grand Almoner and the whole Jesuitical Chapter as political, administrative, civil, and military giants.

Scarborough has been pushing it for a few weeks but now McCain completely ignores Trump in his latest ad. The Republicans are now starting to accept that Hillary is going to win, so "you need to vote for me, so I can keep a check on her in office".

This is where Democrats NEED to hit back, that Republicans spent the last 8 years controlling Congress and the Senate "putting a check" on Obama, but all they did was "put a BLOCK" on everything. When the public complains about "Washington not working", it's down to the same Republicans like John McCain, Ryan and McConnell blocking the work of Government. It's time to change teach Republicans a lesson that the people come first, not their narrow-minded, hateful and lowlife tactics.

We'll first send back all illegal aliens who are criminals says Boris Ephsteyn, for Trump

This is in response to the question (which they dodge) about Deportation Squads.

The question that no one is asking Ephsteyn, or any of the other hired goons, is HOW they propose to round up those "illegal aliens who are criminals" ? Surely that implies Deportation squads ??? They're hardly going to hand themselves in, seeing as they would never be able to return to the US if caught.

How does Clinton Campaign react/adjust to New New Trump Campaign ?

Clearly Hillary has been working largely below the media radar as much as possible, over the last few weeks and just letting Trump publicly implode. It has worked very well, but with scum like Bannon and a zealot nutjob like Conway, this will now be the dirtiest GE of our lifetimes.

If Conway does muzzle Trump, the amount of foot in mouth opportunities will diminish, but how long before he explodes again ?

While Bannon is a novice at Campaigns, he will not miss this opportunity to invent all sorts of vicious attacks to throw at Hillary. How should the campaign respond ? Surely they can't let too much of this stuff go ?

This could backfire even worse on Trump, as even more Republicans are recoiling at this announcement. The fear I have is that if there are any positive poll numbers for Trump, the media will jump back in for him.

Democrat & Clinton Supporter Maggie Hassan Refuses To Answer If Clinton Is Honest

Olympic Podium Pants - The O'Donovan boys

Fall in love with these Irish Olympian brothers who just gave an all-time great interview

Gary and Paul O’Donovan became instant heroes back home in Ireland after winning silver in the lightweight double sculls and certified internet stars after giving the Rio Olympics’ most exuberant, most entertaining and delightful interview.

They talked about “podium pants,” pizza, peeing in a cup and the national celebration that awaits their return to a nation that has, as the interviewer says, “gone O’Donovan mad.”

Their response? “Tis a pity we’re missing the whole thing.”

And, no, that isn’t a fake background.

Just watch it:

These lads are so laid back that they're almost horizontal.

Here's more of them

Mark Halperin scrambling to defend Trump on MSNBC at the moment

He's already played the Biden remarks from 2008 about the President and alluded to HRC's remarks about Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in 68, trying to equate those to what Trump said today. Sickening stuff.

Was Steve Cortes drunk on Hardball last night ?

He appeared to be slurring his words, weaving forward at times. Normally he's quite sharp, if wrong.

Orlando Shooter's father turns up at a Hillary Rally yesterday

MSNBC have reported this, and was seated right behind where Hillary was speaking. He was interviewed afterwards and basically said he supported her.

You just know how Trump will play this, but how will the Clinton Campaign respond ?

My first thoughts is that this is a set up by Mateen's father.

Donald Trump, the angriest white man

An interesting article on the goings on last week

http://www.independent.ie/opinion/columnists/gene-kerrigan/gene-kerrigan-donald-trump-the-angriest-white-man-34944703.html

For many, it's not who wins the White House that matters, it's who doesn't win

Did you see the knife going in? Last Tuesday, as the Trump presidential bid seemed on the verge of imploding, Barack Obama spoke softly. He appeared at his most thoughtful. In truth, he was being vicious, partisan and unforgiving.

And the knife wasn't going into Trump.

(Snip)

Obama's words aimed to neutralise that movement. After he spoke, if the Republicans ditched the loudmouth it would seem they hadn't the brains or the courage to do so until Obama took them by the hand. And the notion that their party leaders took advice from Obama would enrage the Republican base even more.

The aim is not just to defeat Trump but to do lasting damage to the Republican Party. "What", said Obama, twisting the knife, "does this say about your party, that this is your standard-bearer?"
