Some light reading re Treason

"Treason" is the only crime specifically defined in the United States Constitution. Article III, section 3 reads as follows: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Penalty for Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

See also:
10 U.S. Code § 904 - Art. 104. Aiding the enemy
Any person who—
(1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or
(2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or protects or gives intelligence to, or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly;
shall suffer death or such other punishment as a court-martial or military commission may direct.

And a nice footnote for Faux News and the Repubs in Congress:
18 U.S. Code § 2 - Principals
(a) Whoever commits an offense against the United States or aids, abets, counsels, commands, induces or procures its commission, is punishable as a principal.
(b) Whoever willfully causes an act to be done which if directly performed by him or another would be an offense against the United States, is punishable as a principal.

See?, nothing complicated.

Is that a red herring tinkling on your head?

Remember Dan Rather and George Bush and the Killian documents?

Who among us doesn't think republicans are crooked enough to plant the seeds of a "fake story" about ALLEGATIONS that make Trump look like the sick fuck we all know him to be? Edited to add . . . especially just as confirmation hearings are beginning.

Allegations ain't proof, y'all. Show me the PROOF and I'll be the first to lift my glass. We'll still be fucked with Pence and the Reich Wing Republican Congress, but at least Trump won't be near the red phone and the nukes.

FOX type, proTrump "news" is now mainstream.

This is the kind of bullsh*t free political advertising that is considered "news" in Oregon!

"Trump has already created thousands of jobs, but needs big reforms to keep them."

They aren't even pretending to be objective!

Song of the Democrats

In the days of Bush, Cheney, Rove, and Scalia,
as the Constitution lay ‘neath twisted towers,
amid shock and awe, and the poor feeding the rich,
there came from the democrats -
a great gnashing of teeth, hand wringing, and songs of woe.

Then were the days of Obama.
audacity,
hope,
change, and
One America, indivisible.
and democrats saw that this was good, so they slept,
as republicans fought.
And the days became still.

From Russia with love, come the days of Trump,
both chambers loaded.
Unchanged and unbidden, the democrats to renew
a great gnashing of teeth, hand wringing, and songs of woe.

You trust Hillary to run the country, yes?

If you trust Hillary to run the country, consider trusting her to run her campaign. Do that, and you'll find yourself breathing much easier in the days to come.

RNC suffers premature bowel movement.

Oops! Well before the debate started, the RNC prematurely issued a press release announcing that Pence won the debate.

ANOTHER Trump-Russia connection.

In 2004, Trump bought a Palm Beach, Florida estate for $41 million. Four years later, after making minor renovations, Trump sold the estate to a Russian billionaire for $95 million as markets were collapsing in 2008.

My question: What is Russia getting in exchange for financing Trump's golden toilets?

I've decided not to campaign for Hillary.

After closing my law practice and (soon to be) listing my house for sale, I was planning to volunteer for the campaign to elect Hillary Clinton as President. On further reflection, I think it would be better to help wherever necessary to take back the Senate.

First, we know the Republican controlled House will use any excuse, no matter how fraudulent or disingenuous, to investigate Hillary Clinton for so much as sneezing, and they've already proved willing to impeach a President for purely political reasons.

Second, Hillary will need the Senate to confirm her judicial nominations, including any Supreme Court vacancies.

Hillary needs at least one chamber of Congress if she is to have a fighting chance.

Oregon is left of center, as are our Senators. Thus, I'll be traveling to I know not where to help some Democrat take a seat from a Republican. Any suggestions?

One Bernie for Hillary.

MANY people told me mine was the first Bernie for President t-shirt they saw in Portland, Oregon. I was on the bandwagon early and I donated money early.

I'm comfortably a Bernie supporter for Hillary. That means I've not only made peace with the idea of voting for her, it means I'm willing to work to get her elected. That wasn't easy. Politically, I'm to the left of Obama and to the right of Bernie. I think Hillary is to the right of Obama.

In those moments when I need motivation to actually work for Hillary, I focus on the fact that millions of little girls will broaden their dreams just because they will see a girl who became a woman who became President of the United States, and that alone will inspire them just as I've seen black children inspired by Obama's presidency and his undying dignity in the face of tremendous hate.

Be not foolish enough to think I'd vote for her just because she's a woman. That's far from what I am saying. I'm saying I found a sport where Hillary and I have a common interest, she's got the ball, and I'm blocking for her, head first.

It's okay to wish there were other teams, other players, or even other sports at play, but this is the game we are in NOW. At some point, if you're going to play, you've got to pick a team. Are you for Trump, or are you for Hillary?
