On a day of chaos, sorrow, and more stress upon our institutions, can I remind us of a better time?

You're welcome

Regarding Impeachment: What About a Special Committee?

I admit that I am not anything near literate when it comes to procedure in the House, but could not Speaker Pelosi create a special committee to investigate the president, and give it exceptional powers of investigation, which would be a way to straddle that line between full on impeachment and doing nothing.

Like I said, I'm no expert on how this works, but I just wonder if there is some mechanism by which we can expose the findings of the Mueller report, without turning so many off with the word "impeachment".

I TRUST Speaker Pelosi!!

Look, my instinct is impeach NOW too, but guess what ... I am also aware that the Speaker is so much smarter than I am when it comes to making political decisions, and frankly, I think all of us owe her the same.

When the time has come for impeachment to proceed, she will let us know. If you think you know more about how to play this game than our Speaker, then you are not helping, respectfully.

For everyone calling for impeachment now, are you really naive enough to trust Turtle Mitch??

Without a Senate trial, impeachment is meaningless. Could somebody please, sincerely, tell me what makes you think that Mitch would do anything different with impeachment than he did with Merrick Garland?

"We don't need to have a trial in the Senate; that trial will take place in the voting booth a year and a half from now" -- McTurtle, probably, should the House impeach.

(I am honestly looking for somebody to convince me it could possibly go any differently given the tortoise-like one's track record of brazenly defying the rule of law.)

I'm a GenX Dad w/ 3 millennial kids ALL of whom are thrilled with Biden's candidacy. Anecdotally...

... this is my own experience: My kids love Joe, literally love him as a person, as a consensus builder, as a HUMAN BEING, and, of course, as a candidate, not least because they see him as an extension of the presidency of our beloved Obama.

They tended towards Bernie in 2016, but, of course, all three voted for HRC. They have now shied away from Bernie as a result of his Bernie Bro baggage, and so seem really on board ideologically with Senator Warren (who has ALWAYS seemed to me to be WAY more electable than Senator Sanders, as much as I love his ideology).

After a quick dad poll, I think their dream ticket is Biden/Warren. But they are on board with whomever we nominate, obviously. Speaking as one dad, my millennial kids and their peers are motivated more than I have ever seen from a youngish cohort in my 50 years. Of course, I'm a bit too young to remember the late Sixties (born in late 1968).

Go Joe. Go Us. Nothing less than the future of our precious Republic is at stake.

On edit: I personally voted for Senator Clinton in the 2008 primary; none of my kids were old enough to vote that year. I consider President Obama the greatest chief executive of my lifetime, and top 3 of the 20th century; top 10 all time.

Time to issue those indictments Mr. Mueller. The risk of WWIII warrants it.

I am not a lawyer, just a simple history teacher, so I may not understand all the legal rationale behind the DOJ policy that a sitting POTUS (or SCROTUS*, in this case) cannot be indicted, but I do know it is simply a policy, not a law nor constitutional mandate. It is time to unseal the indictments and charge this treasonous asshole before he cedes the world order to our enemies.

Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says she has the votes to become the next House speaker

Source: Washington Post

An unbowed House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) insisted Thursday that she has the votes to become the chamber’s speaker despite solid opposition from more than a dozen Democrats who want fresh leadership when the party takes control of the chamber next year.

“I have overwhelming support in my caucus to be speaker of the House,” Pelosi told reporters. “I happen to think at this point, I’m the best person for that.”

A vote in the Democratic caucus is scheduled for Nov. 28. The full will House vote Jan. 3 to elect a new speaker.

During her remarks, Pelosi touted the size of the Democratic victory in the midterm election, which she called “almost a tsunami.” With a few races still to be decided, Democrats are poised to pick up close to 40 seats in the chamber.

She called that “the biggest victory for the Democrats since 1974, when the Watergate babies came in.”

Stormy Daniels compared the dotard's wee member to Toad from Mario Kart!!

What a time to be alive!

From Daily Beast https://www.thedailybeast.com/trumps-penis-looks-like-toad-from-mario-kart-says-stormy-daniels

Ever since Stormy Daniels said she was writing a tell-all book, there has been feverish anticipation about what dirt she’d reveal about Donald Trump—but it’s safe to say no one predicted this. According to a copy obtained by The Guardian, the book gives excruciating detail of her alleged affair with Trump, including one nightmarish image in which she compares the president’s penis to Toad—the incredibly annoying mushroom character from Mario. “He knows he has an unusual penis,” Daniels writes in a book fittingly titled Full Disclosure. “It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool… I lay there, annoyed that I was getting fucked by a guy with Yeti pubes and a dick like the mushroom character in Mario Kart... It may have been the least impressive sex I’d ever had, but clearly, he didn’t share that opinion.”

California professor, writer of confidential Brett Kavanaugh letter, speaks out about her allegation

Source: Washington Post

Earlier this summer, Christine Blasey Ford wrote a confidential letter to a senior Democratic lawmaker alleging that Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than three decades ago, when they were high school students in suburban Maryland. Since Wednesday, she has watched as that bare-bones version of her story became public without her name or her consent, drawing a blanket denial from Kavanaugh and roiling a nomination that just days ago seemed all but certain to succeed. Now, Ford has decided that if her story is going to be told, she wants to be the one to tell it.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Ford said that one summer in the early 1980s, Kavanaugh and a friend — both “stumbling drunk,” Ford alleges — corralled her into a bedroom during a gathering of teenagers at a house in Montgomery County.

While his friend watched, she said, Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, grinding his body against hers and clumsily attempting to pull off her one-piece bathing suit and the clothing she wore over it. When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth.

“I thought he might inadvertently kill me,” said Ford, now a 51-year-old research psychologist in northern California. “He was trying to attack me and remove my clothing.”
