Stores open in five minutes. Lands End has 21 people waiting at the door. No other stores have more than two waiting. I'm alone at Abercrombie Kids. What in the world did LE sell that nobody wanted?!
We just saw Little Women. My hopes were very high.
I loved her books so much as a kid, I named my youngest daughter (now 41) Amy, and she grew up to be an artist too! But none of the cast of this movie matches how I see them in my head, or actors in previous movie adaptations.
If you haven't read Little Women, like my husband, your main problem will be with continuity. If you've read the book, you'll recognize all the major plot points as they check them off.
Scenery is nice. It's entertaining, and does not plod. The sad part was truly sad. I don't know why I didn't love this movie more.
A receipt-cheat story
I bought something at a sports-apparel store and noticed the clerk's sleight-of-hand with the receipt as he appeared to put it in the bag. I asked where it was. He said it was in the bag. I looked, under the items and all around, and it wasn't. He said oh I'm sorry, here it is -- as he scooped it from a box of receipts I could see under the counter.
What is the point of this? So I couldn't return anything? Or does the clerk sell the receipts at a discount, along with matching stolen items, so someone can return the items for credit?
I'm still puzzling over this.
Just saw Knives Out. It was pretty good.
Jamie Lee Curtis looks older than her 61 years, but at least she has the guts to be authentic.
The things we do for bling
It's 19 degrees and we're heading to a 5K. At 75, with all my joint replacements, I'm sure to win a medal! (Unless there are more than two other crones over 70, which is rare even in a field of 2,000+ runners.) I wish I had an IMPEACH sign on my back.

Yesterday being our 35th anniversary, and tomorrow 11/11 being my 75th birthday, we popped over from Massachusetts to take our pictures sauntering across Abbey Road. We had a brisk beautiful sunny day for it.

What I really hate is getting a text on my cell phone, addressing me by my first name, like we're friends. I know other candidates do it. I guess my info is out there.
Today I am special! Michelle Obama sent me a long uplifting email,
topped with that gorgeous photo from BECOMING. She wants me to keep the conversation going, and stay in touch. She signs it "Much Love, Michelle."

I love you, JLo, but we walked out after half of your movie.
True, my six-day-old replaced right shoulder-in-a-sling was starting to bother me a little, but mostly we left because Hustlers is a really bad movie. You're beautiful, but even the T&A got boring.
In the car on the way home, I read the IMDb synopsis to my husband. Turns out we didn't miss anything, but still glad we went.

National Anthem before a 5K today
I've done over 20 of the Cambridge Classic 5K series, spring/summer/fall/winter, and today was the first time this happened. A live person singing the anthem like we're at a baseball game or something.
I'm used to it in arenas (although I don't really see the necessary connection between sports and flag-waving if we're not at the Olympics.) But to have 2000 people lined up waiting for GO and suddenly have to take off caps and hear a sincere young woman draw out this song, was surreal.
Maybe a change of management? I'm patriotic and I love my country as much as a sane person can at this time. But maybe not enough?
