House GOP blocks effort by Democrats to obtain Trump's taxes

WASHINGTON — House Republicans on Tuesday blocked another attempt by Democrats to obtain President Donald Trump's tax returns from the IRS.

House Democrats tried for a third time to use a procedural vote to pry loose Trump's returns. Republicans thwarted the effort, 228-190, on a mostly party-line vote.

The vote happened as the House Ways and Means Committee debated a similar motion to get Trump's tax returns. That effort was expected to fail as well.

DNC Asks All Staffers For Resignation Letters

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has launched a major reshuffling of the party's organization that has been stung by recent crisis — and the DNC has requested the resignation letters of all current staffers be submitted by next month....

Earlier this month, Perez held a meeting to discuss the issue with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sanders, both of whom supported Ellison in the DNC chair race, along with Ellison, Sanders aides Jeff Weaver and Larry Cohen, and others.

Schumer, pointing to Ellison and Sanders, told Perez, "If he's happy, and if he's happy, then I'm happy," according to two sources.

Democrats introduce the 'MAR-A-LAGO Act'

A group of Democratic members of Congress are playing the clever acronym game again.


One of the latest to be introduced and to target the Trump administration: the "Making Access Records Available to Lead American Government Openness Act."

Yes, the "MAR-A-LAGO Act."

The legislation would require the publication of White House visitor logs, something that was done regularly by the Obama administration but has since ended since President Trump took office.
