molova's JournalWikileaks' Julian Assange says he's 'already been cleared' of sex charges
Source: The Sydney Morning Herald
Julian Assange has used his appearance at the Bendigo Writers Festival to address the controversy surrounding allegations of sexual assault made against him in Sweden.
Mr Assange made a point of speaking about the issue, despite interviewer Robert Manne's initial reluctance, in a live cross from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
"The situation is this, there is one allegation, there are no charges, there have never been charges," he said.
"In relation to this precise allegation, I have already been cleared by the chief prosecutor of Stockholm, back in 2010, who found that no crime had been committed whatsoever."

That's false. Prosecutors are going to interview him in connection to the allegations. Assange is lying.
Julian Assange once tampered with the security equipment of the Ecuadorian embassy
From yesterday's USA Today:
According to the secret internal documents, Assange described as Mr. Guest entered the embassys out-of-bounds control room in Sept. 2012 and tampered with the security equipment, resulting in a scuffle with a security guard that damaged equipment, BuzzFeed reported.

Time Magazine: "WikiLeaks Is Getting Scarier Than the NSA"
Privacy advocates are being critical of Julian Assange and Wikileaks.
"Its become something else, says John Wonderlich, executive director of the Sunlight Foundation, a Washington nonprofit that advocates for transparency. Its not striving for objectivity. Its more careless. When they publish information it appears to be in service of some specific goal, of retribution, at the expense of the individual."
...
Im more afraid of WikiLeaks than I am of the NSA, says one American privacy advocate, who would speak only without being further identified, partly out of concern about retribution. When they first burst into our consciousness, they were acting like publishers and journalists. The idea that these rascals were turning the tables on the deep state had great emotional relevance to me. But they turned out not have any principles.
In the article, it is noted that Assange provided no evidence regarding the irresponsible claim that DNC staffer Seth Rich (recently assassinated) was the source of the DNC leaks:
Assange offered no support for the incendiary suggestionWe dont comment on who our sources are, he coyly replied, when the Dutch interviewer pressed for details on his guests insinuation. Nor was the suggestion welcomed by Richs family, which subsequently issued a statement praising the efforts of the D.C. police, who have said they are investigating the slaying as a mugging gone bad.

SurveyUSA has been doing some bad polls this year
As you may have heard, today a new North Carolina poll was released today by Marist, finding Hillary Clinton ahead by 9%.
Looks like the latest survey USA poll there was an outlier (Trump +4) , either because SurveyUSA is too cheap to poll cell phones, or because the poll was commissioned by a right wing organization called Civitas.
SuSa also had Hillary Clinton up in California by 18%, and she won by 7%.

Independent candidate Evan McMullin gets on first state ballot
Source: The Hill
Evan McMullin has gotten on his first state ballot days after announcing his late independent presidential bid, his campaign announced late Thursday.
McMullin will appear on the ballot in Colorado in November, according to a statement from chief strategist Joel Searby.
Colorado is the first of many states to come as our ballot access program kicks in to high gear and Evan takes his message nationwide," Searby said.
Colorado requires independent presidential candidates to pay a $1,000 filing fee or submit a petition with 5,000 signatures to get on the ballot.

Trump adviser joined key party meeting on Ukraine
Source: Reuters
A foreign policy adviser to U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump confirmed his attendance at a meeting last month during which the Republican Party agreed to watered-down language in its support of Ukraine.
J. D. Gordon, the adviser who previously served as a Pentagon spokesman, said that while he was present during the meeting at the Republican National Convention, he sat at a side table with staff and was not among the delegates charged with shaping the Ukraine platform.
But one delegate in attendance, Diana Denman, said Gordon told her he was going to speak with Trump during the debate over the platform's language on Ukraine, saying she believed Trump's campaign played a direct role in softening the party's support for Ukraine at a time of heightened tensions with Russia.
The Trump campaign has denied it played any role in the weakening of the party's position regarding Ukraine. Gordon called Denman's version of events "inaccurate."

WaPo: Trump lied 30 times in one deposition (under oath)
In 2007, Donald Trump was deposed by the lawyer of a reporter Trump sued.
The lawyers confronted the mogul with his past statements and with his companys internal documents, which often showed those statements had been incorrect or invented. The lawyers were relentless. Trump, the bigger-than-life mogul, was vulnerable cornered, out-prepared and under oath.
Thirty times, they caught him.

RNC suffers spate of Trump-related departures
Source: Politico
The Republican National Committee has seen a spate of departures in recent months related to its embrace of Donald Trump, whom some former staffers felt uncomfortable supporting.
In recent months, deputy press secretary James Hewitt, spokesman Fred Brown, director of Hispanic media Ruth Guerra, and research analysts Lars Trautman and Colin Spence have all left the RNC with Trump as one of the reasons for their resignations, according to sources familiar with their decisions. At least three other staff members have also left the RNC with opposition to Trump as a contributing factor, according to multiple sources.
