molova's JournalClinton campaign: media has double standard
On point:
I think we can all agree that if Donald Trump said something controversial about Clinton supporters, it wouldnt have been in his top ten list of offensive statements in day, the advice reads. Its well past time the press stopped grading Trump on a curve. So is the press going to cover this story in the right [context], or are they going to hold Hillary to a different standard again? Are they going to make more out of this story than they made out of the racist, misogynistic Trump comments that got us here in the first place?

Trump spent $20,000 of money earmarked for charity to buy a 6-foot-tall painting of himself
The finding was made by David A. Fahrenthold, one of the only journalists doing their jobs right now.
In two cases, he has used money from his charity to buy himself a gift. In one of those cases not previously reported Trump spent $20,000 of money earmarked for charitable purposes to buy a six-foot-tall painting of himself.

Has the NYT covered the new Trump-Citizens United scandal?
Yahoo News' Michael Issikoff broke the news that Donald Trum's Trump Foundation (a charity) gave 100,000 dollars to CU, which was used to fund a lawsuit against a Trump rival.
Has the NYT posted any content about this? https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-charity-gave-100000-to-david-bossies-citizens-united-that-helped-fund-lawsuit-against-moguls-foe-151337835.html?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma
If Hillary had done something like this, coverage would have lasted until election day.
Trump grants interview to Russian-funded news site
Source: The Hill
Donald Trump on Thursday conducted a roughly 15-minute interview with a Russian news network as he dismisses accusations that he's too friendly toward Vladimir Putin.
Trump did a phone interview with RT Americas Politicking, a show hosted by veteran television host Larry King.
Trump was noncommittal when asked about Russia's alleged meddling in the U.S. election
I think that that is pretty unlikely, he told King. "I think its probably unlikely."

Snopes fact-checks claim that Hillary wore earpiece to military forum
Snopes concludes the claim is false, having found several other pictures that showed no such object on Clinton's ear.

Obama wore an earpiece to a debate, Drudge falsely claimed in 2012
As you may remember, Matt Drudge is spreading the claim that Hillary Clinton wore an earpiece to the military forum on NBC. But Drudge is known for making shit up, such as the debunked claim that Obama wore an earpiece during a debate against Mitt Romney:

This new Trump article should dominate today's news coverage (The Central Park Five)
Donald Trump was skeptical of the innocence of the "Central Park Five", a group of five minority individuals who were falsely accused of beating a woman to death while she jogged in Central Park, NYC.
"These young men do not exactly have the pasts of angels", Donald Trump once said in a NY Daily News op-ed".

New York Times headline on tonight's NBC Forum: Lauer "surrenders to Trump"
Good one:
"Powell is a long-standing press corps "good guy," while Clinton's a long-standing press corps demon
Media critic Bob Somerby masterfully summarizes the perception of Colin Powel and Hillary Clinton the mainstream media:
That said, you'd have to be as naive as Michael Corleone's wife if you thought that Powell's e-mail would produce a discussion in the press. As noted, Powell is a long-standing press corps "good guy," while Clinton's a long-standing press corps demon. Given that casting, there's no way the mainstream press corps would ever report or discuss what Powell seems to have said.
Instead, we've repeatedly seen that email from Powell spun in a quite different way. Repeatedly, pundits have conveyed the impression that Powell was telling Clinton to be "very careful" about the security aspects of her email account when he gave that advice.
That doesn't seem to be what Powell was saying. But Powell is an official "good guy." Therefore, according to rules of the guild, that simply has to be what the great man said!

Washington Post fact-checker: It is "perplexing" that Lauer didn't correct Trump's Iraq War lie
Matt Lauer's inability or unwillingness to tell Donald Trump that he lied about opposing the Iraq War from the beginning perplexed Glenn Kessler, the Pinocchio-giving Washington Post fact-checker.
It is perplexing to The Fact Checker when interviewers like Matt Lauer dont rebut Trump on this point, which is one of the simplest facts to debunk. Lauer has little excuse for letting this pass unchallenged.
The truth is that Trump did not oppose the Iraq War since before the August 2004 Esquire story (which was 17 months after the invasion).
We have a Four Pinocchio fact-check on this issue, a timeline of all of Trumps comments prior to the invasion in March 2003, and even a video documenting how this is a bogus claim.
We have found no evidence of his early opposition.
