The Handshake (Observations with links)

This last weekend I spent a considerable amount of time on YouTube watching previous interactions with Putin and Obama. While the news all weekend was discussing, my mind kept wondering back to a picture I will never forget. The ones of Obama and Putin coming face to face at the 2016 G20 summit.

This was after we had learned that Russia had meddled in our elections. Obama looked at him like an adversary. It was stern, it was forceful. It wasn't friendly.

Then we see the first handshake between Trump and Putin this morning, (on repeat).

Trump was smiling, he looked friendly. His handshake wasn't forceful or aggressive. But that's the thing. We've all seen countless videos of Trump's infamous aggressive handshake, you know the one he does to exert authority.

The thing that sticks out most to me is Trump is a bully and in countless clips we've seen his overly-aggressive handshake, but with Putin, he's Mr. Friendly. I'd ask why that is, but I think that we all know the answer.

"America should have the right to know what the motivations of its leaders are."

Japan and Europe counter Trump with colossal trade deal

Source: Washington Post

Thirty years ago, as Donald Trump gave what is widely considered to be the first campaign speech of his career, he criticized one country above all for cheating the United States in trade: Japan.

On Thursday, Japan took on the mantle of the global rules-based trading system, as it sidestepped a failing trade agreement with the United States to forge a historic new pact with the European Union.

Leaders from Japan and the European Union on Thursday announced their agreement on the broad strokes of a trade deal that will cover nearly 30 percent of the global economy, 10 percent of the world's population and 40 percent of global trade.

Trump creating jobs all over the world as countries decide to form alliances against us. So much winning.

Last night, when I went to sleep, I thought "there is nothing more SCROTUS can do to outrage me,"

Boy, was I wrong.

Can someone please tell me another time in American history than an American president went to a foreign nation, made a public speech, and bashed the American intelligence, the American media, and the previous sitting American president?

Really. Has that ever happened before??

Trump sanctions Chinese bank in bid to rein in North Korea

Source: CNN Money

On Thursday, the Treasury Department announced a series of sanctions and measures it plans to take. Among them: severing U.S. financial ties with China's Bank of Dandong, which the administration claims acts as a pipeline to support alleged illicit North Korean financial activity.

Treasury also slapped sanctions on two Chinese individuals and one Chinese company.

The moves come in response to North Korea's ongoing efforts to build missiles and its violations of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

In a statement, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin pledged U.S. commitment to maximize pressure on North Korea until it abandons its nuclear and ballistic missile program.

Moscow prepares retaliation for U.S. seizure of Russian diplomatic compounds

Source: Reuters

Moscow is preparing retaliatory measures to Washington's decision to seize two Russian diplomatic compounds in the United States in 2016, Russia's foreign ministry spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

In December, U.S. seized two Russian diplomatic compounds as then President Barack Obama ordered the expulsion of 35 Russians over what he said was their involvement in hacking to interfere in the U.S. presidential election campaign.

Moscow, which denies such allegations, did not retaliate immediately, saying it would wait to see if relations improved under President Donald Trump.

"Retaliatory measures are being prepared. As you understand, such a decision on the issue won't be made only by the foreign ministry," ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
