DDySiegs's JournalHe wont for an additional Reason
He will not want to look vindictive or petty. Not that telling like it is would be either vindictive or petty. What you can be sure of though is that if he did spill some beans, he would be accused of all kinds of nefarious things by those colleagues whom he might expose, as well as their friends in Congress and the WH. And of course, Faux News will mendaciously go after him with lie upon lie.
He has been a first rate senator, with a great sense of fairness and patriotic duty. I for one will miss him. I will have a hard time forgiving those Democrats who made him the target of their witch (warlock) hunt.
Salem Massachusetts 17th Century
Living in what used to be called The Massachusets Bay Colony, I have thought about the witch trials in Salem (with their exemplary due process ) and I think what weve just seen is the Revenge of the Witches (and Warlocks). I am really disgusted with the way Al Franken (who himself called for an ethics committee probe into his own conduct) has been railroaded. I will be very reluctant to vote for any of those senators who participated in this travesty in any primary over the next three years.
Right on Nance!!!
I am in agreement with essentially everything you said in the OP. I especially want to endorse your comments about Chuck Schumer. Lest we forget, let me remind all that in 2015, Schumer was loudly against the Iran nuclear deal. That had to be one of the fnest pieces diplomacy - on the parts Obama, Kerry, Sherman and Moniz - that Ive seen in my life. It now even gets high accolades from the former heads of Mossad, Shin Bet, and the IDF. So Schumer knuckled under to his Netanyahu & Likud loving funders. Schumer also just endorsed Trumps really incredibly stupid decision to move US embassy to Jerusalem - probably at the insistence of the same people. That too was really incredibly stupid. And now Schumer helps drive outbFranken (a much better senator than Schumer)! We need to ditch Schumer. Also I havent much better to say about the rest of the craven senatorial fools who fell in line in wrongly in line with what really isa
Question for the ICC in The Hague
The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague has jurisdiction over crimes against humanity. Therefore should those who will be responsible ( assenting senators and congressman, and Trump) for these 10,000 deaths per annum (if the tax bill becomes law) be brought before the ICC and tried by it - and if convicted , be subjected to the same type of incarceration and odium meted out to prior ICC defendants found guilty of mass murders?
The People behind the Right Wing are SIMPLY EVIL
One of the ways they show this is through their approach to education of ordinary people. They dont like the idea of people acting rationally and relying on accurate info and clear thinking. If such behavior became prevalent, their greedy grip on things of economic value and their authritarian power over their mostly mindless followers would collapse.
This explains their utter fear of an informed and logically thinking electorate. This fear results intheir willingness, and indeed desire, to eliminate effective and useful education for the vast majority as much as they can. It also explains their goal of eliminating the use of logic as a tool for bringing about a life worth living for all. Thus Rude Pundit is right on when says that logic, as we have learned time and again, is not one of the tools available in the savage right-wing toolbox.
She was Magnificent!
I can she how she would have worked issues through with her aides had she been POTUS -- thoughtfully, always trying to make sure that she didn't let her personal emotional responses to things color her responses to the critical issues she would have faced. She would have been head and shoulders above anyone else who even considered running in the 2016 election, most definitely including Senator Sanders. A very worthy successor to the best president, Barack Obama, we've had since at least as far back as Harry Truman!
We Need a New John Wesley Dean III
I watched John Dean give his fateful testimony before the Senate Watergate Committee 44 years ago, but I don't think I ever appreciated until now how important his giving that testimony really was. As the White House Counsel, he knew that that testimony would guarantee that he himself would go to prison.
He deserved that term in prison, no doubt about it. But he also deserved, then and now, the thanks of a grateful nation for playing a big part in helping this country to avoid in the 1970s the horrifying result that Mr. Kaiser describes in his piece.
We need another person now who will make the sacrifice of a possible prison term to lay bare the evil acts of Trump and those who continue to support and defend him out of totally misplaced loyalty and, most importantly, out of their decision to put their own perceived personal interests ahead of those of our constitutional democracy. In our history a few military personnel have had this kind of dedication (and were awarded the medal of honor for it). Let's hope that we will again have someone with that kind character to help stop Trump.
Oh The Shame! A "Fake News" Journalist Confesses to all the Evil things that he has done to Trump
What courage! After all no other "fake news" purveyor has come forward with such a 'heart felt apology" to our nation's "leader". Not only that, but we who follow all that perverse fake news must look inside ourselves and ask whether we have any culpability for the kind of horrible things that Chicago Tribune columnist Peter Huppke has laid bare in his August 23 column "An Apology to Donald Trump, From the 'Fake News" Media.

President Obama, Where Are You? -- Caroline Randall Williams, NYT
I texted the above entitled opinion piece to my family this morning. One of my sons responded by texting "How depressing." I myself don't think his sad expression of nostalgia is enough. We really need Obama to speak out -- and forcefully. This country really can't just lie there in a stupor bemoaning its fate, while Trump wields his wrecking ball.

Trump "Locked and Loaded" -- This EMERGENCY is Now the Responsibility of the Republicans in Congress
Trump tweeted the following further war provocation directed at North Korea this morning: "Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong-un will find another path!"
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40901746
How much more do the Republicans in the House of Representatives need to start living up to their oaths of office. Trump's behavior is now well beyond proven to be an existential threat to the United States of America. By deliberately putting the constitutional democracy of this country at extreme risk through his ever escalating and reckless statements to North Korea, Trump has without a doubt violated his oath of office and committed "high crimes and misdemeanors". In light of the imminent danger into which Trump's actions over the last few days have placed both this country and the World, the House should vote immediately -- TODAY -- to impeach the president. No excuses, no delays! We no longer can afford the luxury of waiting for the completion of the Robert Mueller's criminal investigation.
Speaker Ryan should bring the House into session as soon as physically possible and once the necessary quorum is present he should cause an impeachment resolution to be voted on. Republican members must vote in sufficient numbers to pass that resolution. The Senate should commence the trial to consider removal immediately thereafter. This is a crisis -- and any failure to undertake these actions NOW -- before the whole world is blown up -- is totally on the Republicans in Congress.
