Trumps Trolls Are Waging War on Americas Civil Servants

Alt-right bloggers are singling out government employees deemed hostile to the president’s agenda.

On June 11, alt-right blogger Mike Cernovich published an article attacking an assistant to National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, claiming the previously low-profile civil servant wanted to “sabotage” President Donald Trump.

The piece described Eric Ciaramella as “pro-Ukraine and anti-Russia” and alleged, with no evidence, that he was possibly responsible for high-level leaks. The response to the piece included online threats of violence against Ciaramella, which contributed to his decision to leave his job at the National Security Council a few weeks early, according to two sources familiar with the situation.

Although the harassment was not the only factor, one of the two sources said they “distinctly got the impression” that the departure was premature, partially because of “right-wing” harassment.

Ciaramella is not alone. Cernovich, who claims his Twitter feed receives over 100 million views every month, has been relentless in his criticism of McMaster and those around him. Cernovich’s writings and tweets have included false information, but sometimes they include details that only someone on the inside could know. For example, his tweets about Ciaramella were so specific that they documented meetings and lunches the NSC staffer had with certain people.

Reptile Cult Feud Over Raw Meat Ends in Death

A boyfriend and girlfriend were ostracized from their group after she was seen eating steak tartare. He was so distraught he supposedly asked to be killed.

The trouble began in April, when alleged cult members accused Barbara Rogers of being a reptile alien for eating raw steak. Three months later, she killed her boyfriend, police say.

Rogers called cops in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, early Saturday morning to report that she shot her boyfriend in the head. Rogers told police that Steven Mineo asked her to kill him after the cult accused her of being a “reptilian” and ostracized them when they left.

Mineo and Rogers were followers of Sherry Shriner, a self-proclaimed granddaughter of King David who calls herself a “Servant, Prophet, Ambassador, Daughter, and Messenger of the Most High God.” Shriner preaches that the “New World Order” is colluding with aliens and demons to take over the world; that a mystical substance called Orgone can kill zombies; and that reptilian aliens pose as humans and dump snakes down people’s throats to “scalp” their souls.

Dear Mr. President

Now would be a good time to apologize to Sen John McCain for your POW comments.

Putin Cut From Two Upcoming Hollywood Movies

Though the Russian president may be off-limits thanks to hacking concerns, Russia-themed thrillers (including 'Red Sparrow,' starring Jennifer Lawrence as a spy) are white hot as a new red dawn rises in Hollywood.
Hollywood isn't ready to give screen time to Russian president Vladimir Putin, who's been excised from two upcoming studio features.

Fox's Red Sparrow (March 2) tells the story of a Russian spy (Jennifer Lawrence) wooed by the CIA to be a double agent. It's based on former CIA officer Jason Matthews' novel, which drew raves for its insights into current spy craft. When Fox exec Emma Watts optioned the book in 2013, she shifted the story from modern-day Russia to 1970s Budapest, nominally to give it a more "timeless" feel — and though Putin has a key role in the book, he was dropped.

Then, after Frances Lawrence came aboard as director, Watts shifted the story back to the present day. As Red Sparrow raced toward a January production start in total secrecy (including encrypted scripts that generate a user audit log), the studio "has been scrambling to reflect what is playing out 24/7 in the news," says a production source.

USSC partly rejects Trump in latest travel ban fight

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined for now to block a judge's ruling that prevented President Donald Trump's travel ban from being applied to grandparents of U.S. citizens.

But in a partial win for Trump, the court put on hold part of the judge's ruling that would have allowed more people to enter the United States under a separate ban on refugees.

The brief order said its decision is temporary while the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals considers a separate appeal on the same issue.

Possible Presidential Pardon Scenarios

If Trump pardons them, they may no longer have a Fifth Amendment right to remain silent, and would have to testify?

Over the weekend, one of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyers, Jay Sekulow, refused to rule out the possibility that the president would pardon his associates, or even himself, in the Russia investigation. Sekulow told ABC’s This Week: “He can pardon individuals, of course. That’s because the founders of our country put that in the United States Constitution: the power to pardon. But I have not had those conversations, so I couldn’t speculate on that.”

The issue of whether Trump could use his pardon power returns us to the debate over whether a sitting president may be indicted or whether the Constitution requires impeachment and removal prior to indictment. As some have noted, that is almost a purely academic question because it is highly unlikely that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would indict Trump while still in office. In any event, there is the potential for post-presidency criminal exposure. In addition, Trump’s family members and close associates could also be under investigation. This means Trump could be tempted to insulate them by granting pardons before they’re convicted of anything.

Presidents tend to save their most controversial grants of clemency for the end of their term in order to avoid the ensuing political firestorm while in office. But a Russia-related pardon would be particularly incendiary politically. That may not mean much to Trump given that a defining element of his rise has been his willingness to disregard longstanding norms and upend convention. He has mocked the disabled, attacked a Gold Star family, joked about sexual assault, savaged the free press, and fired the FBI director investigating Russian interference.

Aside from the political dynamics, granting a pardon in the context of the Russia investigation also raises fundamental questions of constitutional law.

Lawmakers ask for review of Ivanka's security clearance

More than 20 lawmakers are questioning a security clearance for President Trump’s daughter amid the controversy of her brother and husband’s meeting with a Russian lawyer and businesspeople.

Ivanka Trump would have been required to disclose not only her foreign contacts, but those from Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. as well, says a letter to the FBI from representatives including New York’s Jerrold Nadler and Nydia Velazquez.

Led by Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), the group asked that acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe conduct a review of her security clearance process.

The reps referenced a New York Times report last week that Kushner had updated his contact list with more than 100 names, including Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya’s, since first applying for his clearance.
