Does COVID neuter reptilian brain cells?

OK, here's a peculiar proposition. After 2 years we know for a fact that COVID and its variants do damage to the human sense of smell, and sometimes also the sense of taste.

As I understand it--and I'm at about the level of expertise of your average Mom's Basement Search-Engine Medical Researcher (LOL)--the classic triune brain conceptualization (which most real researchers now kiss off as dated, but which has some validity)--makes some basic points.

There's a lot of body parts involved in smelling, but eventually our sense of smell is registered in the brain. The "reptilian" and "paleomammalian" brain hunks are in on the action.

So here's what I'm wondering. COVID definitely damages smell and taste in many of the people who get sick with it. Does it also damage the reptilian and paleomammalian parts of the human brain?

If so, what kind of damage is it doing, and how can we treat it?

This is not my idea. Saw something like this on the net.

The idea is to write or call all your elected officials, especially the House and Senate, and ask them to loudly and publicly INVITE Russian diplomats, bureaucrats, and others to seek diplomatic protection, to defect, and to denounce Putin's evil frikking murderous war on Ukraine.

Then encourage friends and colleagues to do the same. Build up a wave of INVITATIONS not just from USA politicians, but politicians and diplomats worldwide.

It could make a difference. If it gains momentum. It's something to do, and I know I need to find something to do to try and make a positive difference...

...otherwise I'm just gnashing my teeth, rending my garments, and, casting my eyes to the heavens...

Why did the Republican Liar-in-Chief cancel his "presser"?

My first inclination was to think, of course, he wants to allow space for Americans to honor the officers who died or were maimed as the rabid Republican mob attempted to overthrow US democracy.

But no. That would be about the stupidest thing to think, the least likely authentic reason.

So, putting on my "Republican RatF*cker Receiver" I'm able to totally trash my Pollyanna Fantasy life, and picture something more appropriately sinister, more Republican you would have to say.

Maybe the Slobfather, as he is unaffectionaly known by decent folk, knows some shit is up with the BOYS and their ILK on 1/6, and realizes if he's on the toob blathering his usual Republican lies, he'll get blamed for it.
