Debates are not a service to voters any longer.

Clearly they are only about ratings. This is a travesty.

Help. UPS management contacts in Texas?

Do any of you happen to know someone who works for UPS in Texas? I'm specifically looking for a UPS manager in Dallas, Mesquite or Lone Star, TX...but would welcome any UPS manager in TX willing to talk to me. Long story short, I shipped a custom built wooden crate to a customer in Dallas that has come up missing. This crate is distinctive...it isn't a random cardboard box. The item inside this crate cannot easily be replaced. UPS is telling me it is lost and wants to write a check and be done with it.

The last physical scan of the crate was in Lone Star, TX on 8/22/20 and the crate should have then traveled to Mesquite, TX and gone out for delivery from there. UPS's "logical scan" (their term) tracking shows it in Mesquite but there isn't any physical proof that it actually made it there. My local UPS account rep is not getting anywhere on this. UPS account reps are not given peer to peer contact information within the company. My customer is being so patient and kind...he knows this isn't my fault and at the same time he is very disappointed. His pleasant demeanor over this makes me want to work that much harder to find this crate.

I know it is a long shot that one of you can help me...but you never know. Thanks in advance.

Halloween during Covid.

Itís my favorite holiday hands down. It takes me a couple very full days to get the outside of my house decorated and lit up each year. I have done this for the 25 years Iíve lived in this home. Itís a sea of purple, green and orange lights...ghosts, skeletons, ghouls, witches, a steaming cauldron, a graveyard, a whole bunch of jack-o-lanterns...I love it ALL. I change it a little each year...the challenge is to get all the lights to run off of one switch. My neighbors love it. Each night of the show, kiddoís come from all up and down the street to stand out front and look at the display. Sometimes I go out and visit with them and we talk about costumes, favorite candies and the upcoming big night. They know Iíll have full size candy bars for them and a mini bottle for the adults walking them around. There are kids who trick or treated at my house 20 years ago that bring their own children now. Halloween night, we have a bonfire in the front yard of the neighbors house across the street and celebrate the holiday...AND my birthday...with a cocktail or two and talk about the long winter ahead. Itís so much fun.

So, you get the picture. Itís a big deal to me...and this isnít a normal year, I get that. If I had a little one, I donít think I would want them to trick or treat during a pandemic. Iím not really sure I want kiddos from all over my Ďhood on my front porch this year either. If I decorate like I always do, it seems like an invitation for people to come...because it is and has been for a quarter century. Do I skip this year? My gut says that I should. Iíve floated that thought to a couple neighbors and they look at me with horror when I tell them Iím thinking of taking a year off.

Am I looking at this correctly? Right now, in town, we have 36 active cases...that we KNOW of. I anticipate that number growing if school officials decide to send all the kids back to school together in the next couple weeks. Right now, just half the kids go for in person learning at the same time.

I donít see a way to do it safely. Your thoughts? 👻 🦇

tRump campaign sues Montana Governor Steve Bullock to halt mail ballots

Calling Gov. Steve Bullockís August directive permitting counties to hold the Nov. 3 election via mail ballot illegal, President Donald Trumpís campaign and three other Republican groups sued Bullock on Wednesday seeking to overturn it.

The suit filed in U.S. District Court in Helena by Trumpís campaign, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Montana Republican State Central Committee also names Montana Secretary of State Corey Stapleton, a Republican.

ďThe Governorís power grab under the cover of COVID-19 is particularly egregious. The Governor is running for U.S. Senate as a member of the Democratic Party and his race is one of the most competitive in the country. So he is using his current position to force a brand-new election system on Montanans that, according to his own party, will sway the election in his favor. This action cannot stand,Ē reads the suit.

Bullock responded, in a statement, that "this template lawsuit appears to be part of a pattern of lawsuits across the country by Republican party operatives to limit access to voting during the pandemic. Voting by mail in Montana is safe, secure, and was requested by a bipartisan coalition of Montana election officials seeking to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and keep Montanans safe and healthy. This is the same directive that the Republican President of the Senate and Republican Speaker of the House said was the right thing to do for the June primary. Today, we have many more active cases of COVID-19 than we did back in June.Ē
