Two injured after ‘elderly’ man drives through window of Norcross’ Department of Driver Services

Two customers were injured at Norcross’ Department of Driver Services Wednesday morning after a man drove through the window of the building.

Around 11 a.m., an “elderly Asian male” was pulling into a parking spot at the DDS, which is located off Beaver Ruin Road, when, instead of hitting the brake, he hit gas pedal, according to Norcross Police Department Sgt. Eric Butynski.

“Two people were hit and were transported to Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville with non-visible and non life-threatening injuries,” Butynski said.

I read the abstract.

I do not work in this field but am interested in this sort of thing, and the summary of their results is intriguing. Not familiar with this journal nor the authors' institutions. I will keep this bookmarked to read when I am rested and more coherent. Related: Have you read Quantum Reality by Nick Herbert?

Georgia: Federal judge issues injunction in absentee ballot rejections, but Kemp wants postponement

A federal judge issued an injunction Thursday barring elections officials in Gwinnett County, and elsewhere across Georgia, from rejecting absentee ballots because signatures on the ballots don’t match those on file for the affected voters.

U.S. District Court Judge Leigh Martin May issued the injunction after giving attorneys for civil rights groups and residents who filed the complaint, as well as those representing the Gwinnett County Board of Elections and Secretary of State Brian Kemp an opportunity to weigh in on it.

...

Attorneys for Kemp and the state were quick to ask the federal court to postpone the injunction issued by May until an Appeals Court can rule on it.

Kemp is appealing it? What an asshole! Everyone in Georgia, please vote Stacey Abrams! Keep Kemp out of the governor's mansion!

Link to tweet

I browse DU almost exclusively on my Android phone, using Chrome. Until the last few days, when someone inserted a link to a tweet, it would briefly display "Link to tweet", then the actual tweet would display without me needing to click on it. Now, it just perpetually says "Link to tweet" and never automatically displays. I've not changed any settings on Chrome. Has something changed on DU?

Red districts in Georgia flipped.

Georgia Democrats strung together improbable victories on Tuesday night, emboldening partisans who hope their strong performance is a prelude to next year’s statewide vote – and the beginning of a forceful rebuke of President Donald Trump.

Democratic newcomers flipped two state House seats in northeast Georgia considered so conservative that the party hasn’t even contested them since the lines were redrawn in 2012. And Democrats captured an Atlanta-based state Senate district long held by a Republican, breaking the GOP super-majority in the chamber.
