MSNBC Touts Five Female Daytime Anchors, Gets Immediately Called Out For No Women of Color

MSNBC Touts Five Female Daytime Anchors, Gets Immediately Called Out For No Women of Color
By Morgan PhillipsJun 7th, 2019, 10:23 am

MSNBC proudly shared a Los Angeles Times article on Twitter boasting its female-dominated daytime programming, along with a photo of its five female daytime anchors. It was not lost on the public that all the women in the image were white.

The LA Times article was entitled “The Women Warriors of NBC” and detailed how five women– Stephanie Ruhle, Hallie Jackson, Andrea Mitchell, Katy Tur, and Nicolle Wallace— came to dominate its daytime programming. The article points out that this directive comes in light of criticism of the network for its “sluggish” investigation of sexual harassment claims at NBC.

MSNBC captioned the tweet, “The five female anchors who now shape most of the daytime news programming at MSNBC.”

Almost all of the tweet’s nearly 2,000 replies pointed out its lack of diversity. Soledad O’Brien, who previously worked for MSNBC and now hosts a weekly talk show produced by Hearst television, quoted the tweet and added, “Zero women of color in this picture.”

I'm undecided

I really don't want to invest in a candidate now when my state's primary is a year away and they could by out of the race by then.

However, in recent days I have bee coming to the thinking that the best ticket to beat Trump next year is Biden/Harris.

Biden will bring back those white middle class Obama voters who switched to Trump in 16 plus moderate independents. Harris will attract women and people of color.

I could be wrong but really think Biden/Harris is the strongest ticket.

Any thoughts?

Independents are the key to impeachment

We know that a majority of Democrats favor impeachment while most Republicans oppose it. The job of the House Dems is to make the case to independents. Once a large majority of independents favor impeachment, things can move forward.

Is Trump making a strategic error

it fighting Congressional subpoenas? By dragging out the process, he is delaying the revelation of any damaging information until closer to the election. Wouldn't it be better to let everything come out now rather than a year from now right in the middle of 2020. Letting the dirt come out now, would allow time for it all to be forgotten for the most part. By delaying and it comes out a little at a time over the next year to 18 months will make it all an election issue. Remember the Comey letter, if that had come out 2 months, rather than 10 days, before the election, Clinton could have recovered from it better.

Pelosi Warns Democrats: Stay in the Center or Trump May Contest Election Results

Pelosi Warns Democrats: Stay in the Center or Trump May Contest Election Results
By Glenn Thrush

WASHINGTON — Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not believe President Trump can be removed through impeachment — the only way to do it, she said this week, is to defeat him in 2020 by a margin so “big” he cannot challenge the legitimacy of a Democratic victory.
...
Sitting in her office with its panoramic view of the National Mall, Ms. Pelosi — the de facto head of the Democratic Party until a presidential nominee is selected in 2020 — offered Democrats her “coldblooded” plan for decisively ridding themselves of Mr. Trump: Do not get dragged into a protracted impeachment bid that will ultimately get crushed in the Republican-controlled Senate, and do not risk alienating the moderate voters who flocked to the party in 2018 by drifting too far to the left.

Poll: Trump approval sinks 5 points

Poll: Trump approval sinks 5 points after Mueller report, tying all-time low

Despite the slide to 39 percent, there is little support for using impeachment to remove the president.

By STEVEN SHEPARD 04/22/2019 05:22 PM EDT

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped 5 points, equaling his presidency’s low-water mark, since last week’s release of the special counsel report into the 2016 election, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.

Despite his sinking poll numbers, however, there is little support for removing Trump through the impeachment process, the poll shows.
...

But while views of Trump have tumbled since the publication of Robert Muller’s redacted report, so has support for impeaching him. Only 34 percent of voters believe Congress should begin impeachment proceedings to remove the president from office, down from 39 percent in January. Nearly half, 48 percent, say Congress should not begin impeachment proceedings.

Pelosi: Impeachment Off the Table'

Pelosi: Bush Impeachment `Off the Table’

By Susan Ferrechio
Published: November 8, 2006

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi promised Wednesday that when her party takes over, the new majority will not attempt to remove President Bush from office, despite earlier pledges to the contrary from others in the caucus.

“I have said it before and I will say it again: Impeachment is off the table,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said during a news conference.

And two years later...

And for all those who have missed the point. Not impeaching Bush didn't hurt the Dems in the next election. So we should trust Speaker Pelosi's judgement on this.
