Cant wait to see @NancyPelosi sworn in as Speaker. Dems will pass a bill to reopen the government. Then it is up to Mitch McConnell to pass it. If Trump wants to continue his shutdown, he will veto it. Then Congress can override & we can start functioning like grownups again.

US Politics: sitting presidents not renominated.
I was curious about this as it could apply in 2020.
Apparently its only happened once to an elected president, Franklin Pierce (14) in 1856.
Others ( John Tyler, Millard Fillmore, Andrew Johnson and Chester Arthur) were denied nomination but were not elected to the presidency and all had assumed the presidency as VP at the death of the president.

This United States House of Representatives race In California was called for the Republican on election night.
Kern County elections officials did not have an updated count of just how many of its more than 22,000 outstanding ballots were included in Mondays update. The next update will be Nov. 26.

California CD 21. Cox (D) Closes the gap. Lots of votes outstanding
A Fresno County election update posted Friday has kept Fresno Democrat TJ Cox within striking distance of Rep. David Valadao, R-Hanford, in their race for Californias 21st District congressional seat.
Valadao had 49,707 votes to Coxs 47,724 an advantage of 1,983 votes, or a little more than 2 percentage points. Article from the Fresno Bee.
This was a lean Republican and and would be an unexpected win if Cox can pull it off
Kern County will report today

On Tuesday, the Kern County elections department told The Bee it had 22,072 mail-in and provisional ballots left to count.
Fresno County could be the key in deciding the race. It still has 77,000 ballots to count, though its unclear just how many of those are within the 21st. The next county update will be released Wednesday.
