Syracuse, N.Y. A veteran syracuse.com news photographer wearing press credentials was shoved to the ground by a police officer while the photographer covered Saturday nights protest in downtown Syracuse.
Photographer Dennis Nett, 60, suffered scrapes and bruises and two broken camera lenses in the attack captured on video.
The incident occurred at 9:37 p.m. in front of the Public Safety Building on South State Street as riot police moved toward a group of protesters who had begun breaking windows at police headquarters and the nearby criminal courts building.
Nett had just begun shooting video when he was pushed. As shown by his brief video, an unidentified officer broke ranks from a line of police who were advancing toward the crowd of protesters. He charged Nett and knocked him over backward.

900 Missouri residents who 'snitched' on lockdown rule-breakers fear retaliation after details leak
After Donald Trump backed anti-lockdown demonstrators last month, Missouri residents fear retaliation over rulebreaker report leak
Hundreds of Missouri residents have had their personal details shared online after the publication of a document that recorded reports made against those flouting lockdown measures.
It comes after St Louis County authorities called on people to report businesses and persons not following statewide lockdown measures, last month.
The names and addresses of almost 900 people were shared on Facebook to name-and-shame them after authorities had released the data following a media request under the states Sunshine Law, which requires authorities to release information submitted to public agencies.
The complaints resulted in 29 businesses receiving court summons in April, leaving some concerned that they will face dismissal at work after reporting on rule breaking at their own workplace.

Fears rise that Trump will incite a global vaccine brawl
When global leaders gathered virtually last month at the behest of the World Health Organization to commit to distributing a future coronavirus vaccine in an internationally equitable way, the United States didnt join in.
On Monday, the European Union is hosting a gathering for countries to pledge funding for research into vaccines and treatments for Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. But once again the U.S. government isnt expected to participate.
The Trump administrations apparent lack of interest in cooperation has alarmed global health officials and diplomats as they seek to end a pandemic that has disabled economies and killed more than 240,000 people worldwide. The concerns are only deepening as President Donald Trump and his aides squabble with China and the WHO over the origins of the virus.
The fear is that Trump will be content with allowing the race to develop and distribute the vaccine to devolve into a global contest -- and that poorer countries will be left behind in the rush to procure doses. In essence: that the presidents America First view of world affairs as an atavistic scramble for power will lead to unnecessary suffering and death.

New York schools will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year, Gov. Cuomo says
Source: CNBC
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Friday that the states schools and colleges will remain closed for the remainder of the academic year and will continue distance learning to curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Cuomo said state officials dont believe schools could develop a plan to reopen that would keep students and educators safe in time. He said any plan to reopen schools would have to follow social distancing protocols where people wear masks and no gatherings are held, and the transportation system would require fewer students.
He said a decision on summer school will be announced at the end of May.
He said the there are currently no plans to close schools this fall because its a long time away. In order for summer school to occur, Cuomo said there would need to be a drop or stabilization of the infection rate for a period of time.

Dr. Fauci Leaving For Trump's Daily White House COVID-19 Briefing:
https://twitter.com/jamiekrolak/status/1254548998591045632Amid The Pandemic, U.S. Militia Groups Plot 'The Boogaloo'
A report published Thursday by the watchdog group the Tech Transparency Project found 125 Facebook groups devoted to the idea of the boogaloo, a far-right term used to describe what they believe is an inevitable civil war in the U.S. Members discuss weapons, combat medicine, and how to develop explosives, the report says. One group even shared a document detailing how to disrupt U.S. government supply lines and discussing the possible need to assassinate government officials.
These groups have proliferated during the pandemic, according to the report, as right-wing extremists grow more agitated over lockdown orders aimed at slowing the spread of the virus, measures many militia and patriot groups view as the oppressive maneuverings of a tyrannical government.
Over 60% of the groups were created in just the last three months, according to the report. The 125 groups have nearly 73,000 members, though its unclear how many individuals may belong to multiple groups.
About 50% of the groups members have joined within the last 30 days.
