My 88 year old mother just told me her own personal "me too" story

I'm still in shock. Without going into detail, she was in high school at the time and it was a prominent person in her small town that attempted to have his way with her. He was her boss at the time. She never told her parents. The only person she ever talked to about it was her friend, and the only reason it came up was because her friend warned her several days later that it had happened to her too.

At one point she said she had to hold on for dear life while he attempted to pull her out of a car! When I asked her why she never told anyone, she said she didn't think it would matter because nothing actually happened, totally ignoring the fact that something had happened! She had been physically assaulted whether there had been sex or not.

I never knew this had happened to my mother. I am totally pissed. It's a good thing the perpetrator has long passed away or I'd be in the car right now heading his way.

I'm calling my local Democratic headquarters today to volunteer

I want to help. I'll canvass, drive people to the polls, whatever. This crap has got to stop.

"Someone's gonna have to tell Trump"

To me this is one of the funniest lines I've heard in awhile. Does anyone else find this both telling and humorous?

The statements from Kavanaugh's buddies

In my opinion the statements from Kavanaugh's friends backing him up are a little too carefully crafted and beg for further investigation. This article is interesting.

I think you'll like this true story about a friend of mine

I just visited a friend that I only see about twice a year. He is in his early sixties and has white/grey hair and a full beard. He used to have just a mustache. The full beard was new, and you're gonna love reason why.

He told me he looked in the mirror one day and thought he was starting to resemble National Security Adviser John Bolton with just his mustache. And, since he "didn't want to look like an Islamophobic war monger" (his words), he decided to grow a full beard.

I thought it was great. He had me laughing out loud.

All this last minute stuff by the Republicans is BS!

I guess the emails Corey Booker wanted to use Wednesday were cleared early this morning at the last minute. That means Grassley and Cornyn were playing games today when Booker was read the rules. Booker should have been given his time back to question Kavanaugh like he wanted to yesterday, or at least told he could do so today. Instead, Grassely and Cornyn kept quiet, and now the right is claiming that Booker was grandstanding and being a martyr. Is there something I'm getting wrong about this? It's hard to keep up with all of this, but I don't trust these Republicans at all. They don't want Kavanaugh to be questioned about certain things, but they also don't want it known they are keeping information from the public. All this last minute stuff is BS!

Taxpayers paying to clean up after Pence family

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-pence-family-gas-stations-indiana-20180713-story.html

Vice President Mike Pence turns nostalgic when he talks about growing up in small-town Columbus, Indiana, where his father helped build a Midwestern empire of more than 200 gas stations that provided an upbringing on the "front row of the American dream."

But what he doesn't talk about is the more than 85 contaminated sites left behind.

Don't you hate it when businesses leave their mess for taxpayers to clean up?

Why do Trump supporters get away with saying "there is no evidence of collusion"?

There is plenty of evidence of collusion: the indictments of Trump advisers, all the lying about contacts with Russians, the meeting in Trump Tower, the sucking up to Putin, the list goes on. Are these things not evidence of possible collusion? They may not be actual "proof" (yet) of collusion, but these things certainly can be called evidence. I think everyone saying there is no evidence of collusion needs to be called out on this, including Trump during interviews.

Oops! Even a stable genius sometimes says the wrong thing

In a way, this is more scary to me than what he did yesterday.

Senator Jamie Raskin had a great summary of yesterday's clown show Must Watch

I didn't see this already posted, so I hope it's not a repeat.
