Trump supporters, quit attacking understanding

Explaining how a hurricane forms does not mean you are a fan of high winds and property damage. Think about that. It's the same with riots. Understanding them does not mean you like them. When someone tells you that riots are a result of tensions and problems that are never fully addressed, it does not mean they are in favor of looting and violence. Please remember this the next time you want to accuse someone of downplaying "the violence". Thank you!

We are being pitted against each other and it will destroy us

Just watched a live feed from Portland today. It was an hour I'll never get back, narrated by a Proud Boy supporter. I wanted to see things from their side. What I saw made me both angry and scared for my country.

It showed a large group of militia- type Trump supporters, quite a few armed, marching up a street and facing off with a BLM group that was already in a park having a peaceful event. The narrator even mentioned that it was "peaceful so far". As more of the militia members, bikers, etc. arrived, the narrator was thanking them for coming and being part of their great "patriot" event. The two sides eventually squared off and proceeded to yell at each until emotions were so high something was thrown. Then little by little things started flying. There was pushing and shoving, the whole routine. It took awhile for someone to make the first move, but it was bound to happen.

Never once during the live feed did I see any police try to calm the situation and move the two groups away from each other. It was in the middle of the day, things were still peaceful and no apparent looting or rioting was going on. The police should have at least been doing crowd control, but they weren't doing anything. I want to know why the police weren't breaking it up before it started? They're always moving everyone along in every other protest you see footage from.

I've heard the excuse that it would be too dangerous for the police to get in the middle, but that doesn't make sense.

Wouldn't that mean the police couldn't get their own supporters to comply?

If the police asked the militias, proud boys, patriot sons, and all the rest to move on away, to protest somewhere that wasn't in BLM's face, are we to believe they would not comply? They claim to be all about supporting the police and complying with them, right?

We are being pitted against each other, and it's being condoned.

I'm watching some really sick stuff right now

It's a live feed from some "patriot" group showing Blue lives matter morons encountering a Black Lives Matter crowd in Portland. A big difference you notice right away: the Blue (and all) Lives Matter people are armed while the Black Lives Matter people are not. I can't believe we are quibbling over which "lives matter" instead of trying to solve the problems that cause this kind of shit. I am sad for my country.

My sister- in- law lives in Portland. Asked her about reported violence there

She said there are stories about the Proud Boys and other groups coming in and causing trouble. In some cases the police are allowing the Proud Boys to leave before they start arresting people.

I know this is anecdotal, but there other sources that claim the same thing. Most of them have paywalls so I am leaving it up anyone who wants to google.

I'm tired of the way legitimate protesters get lumped in with provocateurs.

The two scariest things about the Q anon believers

1) They are being brainwashed to accept mass arrests.

How convenient for a potential dictator to have a large group of followers ready to turn a blind eye to mass arrests, surely a despot's wet dream come true.


2) They are being trained to follow blindly.

Q is some anonymous entity on the internet. This Q they follow could be anyone, not necessarily American, or even a friend to America. With their slogan "Where we go one, We go all", they are encouraging themselves to act like sheep and follow, even though they don't know who exactly it is they are following.

Just a few thoughts that have me worried.
