The View from the Tenderloin

The View from the Tenderloin

I went to Joe's today to replenish some necessities: Vodka and Tequila. For the first time in quite a while I walked through my old neighborhood- The Tenderloin. I'm glad I did. I realized that if I wanted to start writing again, and I do, I had to start walking again.

The Hood wasn't the same, the old carousel of watchfulness and energy, victory and defeat, the fog of war gone. The plague has taken too many of the players I guess. The ghost was still there, I caught glimpses of it in odd corners, pale and thin, but there. I also heard whispers of the days to come.
This is still my town, but to reclaim it I need to start walking. San Francisco has worn many cloaks in it's lifetime, it just shrugs and moves on. It's not going anywhere.

Home, Home Again
I Like To Be Here When I Can
When I Come Home Cold And Tired
It's Good To Warm My Bones Beside The Fire

God Bless you All
God save the Republic!
