I laugh every time I hear this Trump defense from the Repubs-

"Yeah, he's an asshole, but you can't impeach him for being an asshole".

Can someone tell me why the Democrats didn't charge Trump with bribery?

It seemed the most obvious chargeable offence. It is the one charge specifically cited n the Constitution. It circumvents the Republican's from saying the charges made are NOT specified in the Constitution. Why dying they charge him with bribery?

I can't believe Lindsey Graham just said

If you don't like the President you shouldn't be in the FBI. All I can say I'd, WTF?

So the man who denied he colluded with a foreign country to get dirt on a political opponent

flat out admits he was trying to get a foreign country to find dirt on a political opponent. If he gets away with this there's no more need to move the goal posts. The goal posts are gone.

"Donald Trump did not shoot someone on 5th Avenue"

NYT, Wapo: "Somebody shot someone on 5th Avenue".
White House: "Donald Trump didn't do it".
Donald Trump on Twitter: "We're looking into the Democrats who shot someone on 5th Avenue. Maybe even Obama. I think maybe it was Obama".
White house sources: "Donald Trump shot someone on 5th Avenue".
Trump: "Fake sources. Fake news".
Republicans: "They were second hand sources. They weren't there when it happened"
Congress: "Witnesses to Donald Trump shooting someone on fifth Avenue will testify".
White House Spokesperson: "Sure Donald Trump shot someone on 5th Avenue. It happens all the time".
Trump in front of a helicopter: "I had to do it. No President has ever done this before. People are very happy I shot someone on 5th Avenue. It was the best someone shot someone on 5th Avenue ever".

And...

Donald Trump remains President.

Regarding evangelicals, QAnon, civil war, End Times and a mad man

Donald Trump plays for his base. What if he starts listening to it? I suspect roughly half of his base is seriously looking forward a civil war at home or the battle of Armageddon worldwide. And if he starts either of them, his base will love him for it. Add to that the Dominionists who have advised him and I can foresee prophesy self-fulfilled by a mad man with the power to bring it about. I'm speaking metaphorically here, but, what if the AntiChrist doesn't know he's the AntiChrist as he makes his move to bring everyone- and I mean everyone- down with him?

At the start of Trump's term I made 20 predictions. Check out #12

Any Trump voters want to put twenty dollars down on the promises your man made? I’ll bet a dollar on each prediction below. In the next four years:
1- The wall will not be built.
2- There will be no special prosecutor regarding Hillary Clinton’s e-mails or the Clinton Foundation.
3- The percentage of Low skilled manufacturing jobs in the workforce will never be higher than it is now.
4- Unemployment will rise.
5- Your taxes will not go down (unless you’re rich).
6- The deficit will be higher every year of Trump’s presidency than in President Obama’s last budget year.
7- Trump will deport fewer illegal immigrants than President Obama did.
8- There will be no ban on Muslims entering the country.
9- GDP will remain under 4%.
10- More Americans will die from terrorist attacks in the next four years than in the last four years.
11- The Middle East will remain a mess while Putin’s Russia becomes stronger.
12- We won’t get Syria’s oil. If anybody does, it will be Russia (but President Trump’s Sec of State might get richer off of it).
13- For the first time in more than 8 years, a member of a US President’s administration will be indicted, or will resign or be pardoned before he is indicted.
14- US oil production will be smaller in 2020 than in 2015.
15- Jobs in coal mining will not increase beyond their peak under President Obama.
16- The price of coal will be higher and the cost of renewable energy will be lower in 2020.
17- In 2020 Barack Obama will have a higher approval rating than Donald Trump.
18- Inflation will increase faster in the next four years than in the last four years.
19- Income inequality will widen; the CEO to worker pay ratio will increase.
20- Donald Trump will be a one term President.

In January 2020, I will pay anyone who wants to take me up on it a dollar for everyone I get wrong, and the he or she will pay me a dollar for every one I get right. Any takers?

Great quote just now from John Meacham.

Paraphrasing: "As you raise the bar on what you can impeach a President for, you lower the bar on what is acceptable behavior by a President"

September 28, 2019

This time "For the good of the country" means exposing the truth and not suppressing it.

Too often in our past the truth was suppressed "for the good of the country". The excuse was that the truth "could tear us apart". Nixon in Hanoi before the 1968 election. Reagan and Iran before the 1980 election. Any hint that Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone. 9/11, Saudi Arabia and the 28 pages. It has allowed for criminal and otherwise nefarious acts to be covered up under the guise of "national security".

This time, covering up the truth is what could tear this country apart. Now is the time for the precedent that a crime committed by the President is punishable. Punishable. Not just impeachment. No resignation followed by a pardon. Payment to society for a crime committed. For the good of the country.

Is it possible Pelosi chose the Ukraine angle to impeach because it doesn't implicate Republicans

in the Senate, and in doing so it avoids scandals that would bring them down with Trump? In this way they could allow for his removal in a way that saves themselves. The whistle blown seems to implicate Trump and a very small circle around him. She could be sending a signal that they'd be safe if impeachment stayed narrow in its scope, limiting it to Trump's involvement with Ukraine.
