Beto O'Rourke says he's running for Texas governor

Source: Texas Tribune

Beto O’Rourke is running for governor, challenging Republican Greg Abbott in a clash of two of Texas’ biggest politicians.

“I’m running to serve the people of Texas, and I want to make sure that we have a governor that serves everyone, helps to bring this state together to do the really big things before us and get past the small, divisive politics and policies of Greg Abbott,” O’Rourke said in an interview with The Texas Tribune. “It is time for change.”

The former El Paso congressman, 2018 U.S. Senate nominee and 2020 presidential contender said he was running for governor to improve public schools, health care and jobs in Texas. But O’Rourke also took sharp aim at Abbott’s record, citing new laws he backed this year that ban most abortions in Texas, tighten voting rules and allow permitless carry of handguns. He also criticized Abbott over the February power grid failure that left most of the state without electricity in subfreezing temperatures and his response to the coronavirus pandemic that has recently been focused on fighting vaccine and mask mandates.

Not that I don't know how to fix it myself, but

Has anybody had the same experience with Comcast that I've had?

I was going to switch to AT&T until the OAN thing and Comcast actually offering me a way to save money. Not that I like Comcast, you understand.....

Anyway, things seemed slow, and when I did a speed test I found that I was not getting the bandwidth I was paying for.

When I called support, the guy almost immediately said turn my Wi-Fi on the phone off and turn it back on again. Which worked.

Only trouble is, I've got to do it every single day or oftener.

Anybody happen to know why this should be? It only takes a few seconds, but it's annoying.

Sort of listening to Dowd on CNN.

Am I the only one who has a huge problem with someone who has ever worked for W running as a Democrat, especially in Texas? Just because Trump was horrendous does not mean W was anything approaching okay.

Okay, maybe I'm overreacting, but

Yeah, I was watching America's Got Talent. I hope Josh Blue wins, but I'm too tired and depressed to vote.

The last act was the nurses' chorus. I sure respect nurses. And I find I don't even remember exactly the chorus of the song, but the gist of it was if you don't believe in my heaven I'm still going to stand by you.

I think. I will admit that I may be wrong about that, because I did not have closed captions on.

But, any time a Christian says that my back goes up. Christians who broke their promises tried to ruin my wedding, and my mother's funeral. My theory is they think saving your eternal soul is more important than keeping their promises. Even if you pay them. I object to that.

I also think it's extremely dangerous. People can justify anything in this world in the name of eternal life. And they have

What, no mention that Juneteenth is now a federal holiday?

Yes, I scrolled through the greatest, and I looked at the home page. I don't know about you but to me this is a big big deal.

Can anyone here tell me about New Braunfels

I'm poking around looking for some place to retire to. My first choice was Southern California, but I recently found out my Quaker parakeet is illegal there. It seems kind of nice that New Braunfels is within reasonable driving distance of San Antonio and Austin and Fredericksburg, but aren't there some conservative racist nutcases there as well? I'm currently in the Houston area, and about the only things I like about it is its diversity and the fact that it's Democratic. Aside from that I want out of Houston.
