McConnell is lying again. He is trying to blame the Dems

for the Ford complaint getting out and not held in confidence, blah blah, blah. He is speaking to the Senate so slowly I could knit a sweater in between words. He must be worried about votes. I have to mute him since my blood pressure is increasing rapidly.

Brown signs bill; women must be on boards of directors.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-governor-women-corporate-boards-20180930-story.html
Gov. Jerry Brown on Sunday signed a bill into law that makes California the first state to require corporate boards of directors to include women, saying that despite potentially “fatal” legal problems in the measure, it is time to force action.

“Given all the special privileges that corporations have enjoyed for so long, it’s high time corporate boards include the people who constitute more than half the ‘persons’ in America,” Brown wrote in a signing message.

The new law requires publicly traded corporations headquartered in California to include at least one woman on their boards of directors by the end of 2019 as part of an effort to close the gender gap in business. By the end of July 2021, a minimum of two women must sit on boards with five members, and there must be at least three women on boards with six or more members. Companies that fail to comply face fines of $100,000 for a first violation and $300,000 for a second or subsequent violation.

Specific countries will end up paying more for Climate Change than others

but the projected costs are not fair for all.

https://arstechnica.com/science/2018/09/the-us-would-suffer-some-of-the-biggest-costs-of-climate-change/

"...India is the country likely to bear the highest cost per tonne of CO2, at a mid-range estimate of US$86. The US is in second place at US$48, followed by Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and China. The estimates themselves are uncertain, but the rankings, the authors write, are not: they stay pretty much the same regardless of where in the range you look.
The per-country costs are largely unfair: the countries that contribute the least to global carbon emissions stand to pay some of the higher costs. India, for instance, is set to pay around four times its fair share of the cost relative to its emissions. China, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. WOMEN'S MARCH 2019 announced.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/29/us/womens-march-2019.html

After the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh advanced on Friday to a vote by the full Senate, organizers of the Women’s March said messages came pouring in.
People were “enraged,” Linda Sarsour, a chairwoman of the Women’s March, said on Saturday.
“Our email inboxes were full: ‘Women’s March, where are you? When are we marching? Tell us when? Tell us where?’” she said.
Jan. 19, 2019. That’s when they plan to hold a third Women’s March, bringing the main demonstration back to Washington, where it was first held. There is still much to be done: Organizers are determining what route to take at the march’s center in Washington, and are working to get needed permits. If the 2017 march was any indication, the demonstration has the potential to draw hundreds of thousands of people.

Hell Hath No Fury Like Women the GOP Scorned

"Every woman I have contact with in any way, at my home, on the phone, on social or mass media, had a visceral reaction to the Republicans’ misogyny-fest on Capitol Hill this past week, also known as the judicial confirmation process. Tears, fears, rage, and physical reactions are the norm, not the exception.

I’m not about to write about the details of Senate spectacle of a bunch of old men sending a message that women don’t matter. It just makes me incoherently angry. Besides, I’m not so sure words from me are what’s needed right now.
I do believe a line has been crossed. We have an obligation to make this upcoming election a statement. It is already the year of the woman in terms of candidates for elected office. Now we all need to make sure it’s the year that women’s voices driving voter turnout.

I hope I’m right. There are more than two dozen events in this week’s Activist Calendar for your consideration. If you haven’t already volunteered for a campaign or get out the vote effort, now is the time to make a commitment."

Chart:Every time Kavanaugh dodged questions compared to Ford

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/9/28/17914308/kavanaugh-ford-question-dodge-hearing-chart
Don Lemon just showed this on CNN. Click the link.

"... Ford made an effort to answer every single question. Kavanaugh actively dodged questions. He often repeated the same non-answer over and over. Other times, he insisted on answering a question with “context” — which inevitably was a long story about his childhood — but never actually answered the question."

Brown signs gun control laws.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-california-governor-gun-bills-20180928-story.html
"Seven months after a teenage gunman killed 17 people at a Florida high school, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed a stack of gun control bills on Friday, including a proposal that raises the minimum age for buying rifles and shotguns from 18 to 21."

"The Democratic governor followed the lead of Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who in March signed into law a bill raising the minimum age for buying long guns.
Brown also signed into law on Friday measures that impose lifetime firearm bans on people convicted of serious domestic violence charges, as well as those who have been hospitalized more than once in a year for mental health problems. He also enacted laws that will make it easier for police officers and family members to have guns taken away from persons deemed a danger to themselves or others, and to require concealed gun permit applicants to complete at least eight hours of gun safety training and demonstrate competency with a live-fire exam."

My day: Woke up, turned on CNN, saw Flake in elevator, cried,

clicked on DU, called all of the Dem Judic Comm senators to thank them, continued to listen to Dem senators' remarks, saw Feinstein and Leahy talking with Grassley, heard the news, cried some more.

I went out for a little while and spoke with 3 women and we were all discussing this (total strangers at a car rental place). This is not unusual for me to speak with strangers about the moron since I wear my home made "lock him up" earrings every time I go out. Today was the first time two strangers told me that they were sexually assaulted. If this happens to me, just one person, in such a short amount of time, can you imagine how many there are in the country? We must all speak up and RESIST. Stronger together!
