Think about the dystopian scenarios of the government buying our internet histories

and having a super computer compile them into a database according to subject and then using those search trends to run preliminary profiles of potential undocumented immigrants, drug offenders, critics of the administration; or even excessively prosecute dissenters for minor infractions like pirating (perhaps even streaming pirated content) or accidentally viewing pornography where the subjects are underaged (but not in a way that's identifiable), locking political opponents and protest organizers up for innocuous infractions. Local authorities would receive "hit lists" for their counties, free of charge from the fed.

Meanwhile Obama...

Nefariously running the shadow government from his secret island lair.

Now is the time to have a smooth-talking democrat approach Paul Ryan and get him to replace Nunes

Ryan is in a very vulnerable state and wants to be assured that he still has any power.

Rather than protest the president; shouldn't we be protesting the real president: Fox News?

I'm pretty sure rallies in front of their buildings would really bum them out, and even maybe reach the sliver of a conscience that some of the anchors and other staff have.

Maher's panel last night on Comey

Tbh I have a better impression of Comey now. I had forgotten about the leaks from the FBI's New York "Trumplandia" bureau. I didn't know there was an investigation into people communicating with Flynn and Giuliani (hopefully not the bullshit "investigations" that PDs do on their corrupt officers, but at least it's something). I distinctly remember Giuliani on live television bragging about being cued to the emails and communicating that with Trump. Could the investigation be a reason that he's fallen into the shadows alongside Christie (ironically also under investigation)?

To play devil's advocate: at the time his reasoning was unsound, but perhaps not his intentions, as he weighed the public receiving the news through leaks against sending a letter to congress (who aren't supposed to be chucklefuck blabbermouths about it). I don't think he believed that the media would go batshit over the letters either, because they shouldn't have, just like with the emails. Disproportionate coverage. The entire media machine during that election was fucked up.

Although I don't know how to justify how sending the letter to only the republican members of congress? I remember hearing something about that.

Looks like Ryan gave away his spine last November and it was all for nothing

Shit gotta hurt right about now. He was hoping it'd all pay off but now he has nothing. No pride. No merit. No Ayn-Randian paradise. Nothing.

Should we start calling Republicans something else now?

>inb4 "garbage", "shit", etc

Well first we had republicans (wars, deregulation, guns, money, etc); but then a lot of their base suddenly said "I'm a libertarian now" following the historic catastrophe that was the W administration, then those people became teabaggers, who largely elected low intelligence representatives with a grab-bag of nationalist ideology, corruption, and bigotry (their only requirement for sailing into office being hyper-partisan anti-Obama conspiracy theories). Then these people attached their poorly constructed highschool shop class tier wagon to a gold-painted facade with the letters TRUMP emblazoned across its cowcatcher; effectively an entity with no fixed ideological values save for "money money money" and "Fuck YOU"; incomparable to the republican party of ol'.

Right now there are still remnants of the old guard who've proclaimed themselves "NeverTrump Republicans" but I feel like that won't catch on in the mainstream. You basically see a lot of people jumping parties because of the weird-ass place rock bottom they've reached after losing an election to a black man. Brandishing these new "Trumpists" with a catchy name is a good way to coax those that stubbornly cling to their (R) to not cave to their hyper-partisan predisposition and kneejerkedly support Trump and his cohorts. A good way to inspire the voters that'll never vote for anything other than republican (because they think that's a virtue or some other twisted sophistry) to connect the lines that they're not actually voting for a republican by supporting the republicans of the Trump era; convincing them to stay home or vote (I) (let's be real the people I'm talking about wouldn't vote democrat even if they were promised riches and eternal youth).

It's embarrassing that future generations will end up reading chapters in their history textbooks

solely devoted to this inexplicable fascination with this weird thing called "Twitter" that the politicians of the 21st century seemed to have.

If McConnell nukes the filibuster it could backfire...bigly

Democrats only would need to pick up three seats to conduct trials for Trump officials. I know McCain and Graham have been all talk, but I believe they'll come around once it becomes a sure thing. Then all we need is a third, and with the rate Trump is going, a senator in a hotly contested area up for reelection will certainly defect.
