At this point, would you prefer that he just kick the bucket and spare us the court theatrics?

And by "him" you know whom I'm talking about.

On this Derby Day, regarding Secretariat, 50 years ago

When asked to reflect upon my 70 years I always say that the three things that blew me away were Beatlemania, the moon landing, and Secretariat.

I suspect that everybody, regardless of age, can appreciate the momentousness of the first walk on the moon... the culmination of a human dream, a JFK promise, and an American pride project. It was staggering... the weeks before when the astronauts were on their way, "they're almost there", "tonight's the night!" I was 16, already a big fan of history, and I can remember that I was more impressed at the time with the human magnitude than I was of an American achievement.

Those other two things... well, I guess you had to be there to know

The Beatles weren't just a new musical act... they were a cultural revolution. I could go on and on about that, but I'm saving my typing fingers for....

SECRETARIAT.... the greatest athlete that ever lived.

I'm not kidding... I've watched replays of the 1973 Triple Crown races hundreds of times, the Belmont much more than the other two, obviously, and no matter how often I've heard Chic Anderson exclaim "he is moving like a tremendous machine!" I am moved to goosebumps and tears. I was a live witness to perfection, from the most beautiful creature that ever walked the Earth.

Your DMV is a cruel joke, North Carolina

I mean... are you fucking serious?

Moved here to Charlotte from out of state two weeks ago. Changed my insurance coverage to North Carolina, the agent told me I had to get a North Carolina drivers license within 30 days.

So, earlier today I went to a DMV... there was a line stretched outside the door. After 30 minutes not a single person in line had moved into the office. So, I asked the guy in front of me what was going in... he said that appointments get priority, and you have to make an appointment online. OK, fair enough, I guess, but in three other states I've never had to make an appointment to a DMV.... you go to a big office, pick a number, and wait your turn.

So, I'm like... I give up, I'm not likely to get inside the door at this rate.... went online to book an appointment... and guess what... not a single appointment available in Charlotte for the next 90 days, at any of their five locations. OK, then, I'm willing to drive a bit out of town... Gastonia, Concord, Monroe, Statesville... but not a single appointment available within 90 days at any of those places, either. And the online system won't accept appointments beyond 90 days anywhere.

North Carolina... FUCK YOU. That's how I feel right now.

Didn't we learn last week that trump shared classified documents with friends?

So, why wasn't trump arrested like this Texeira fellow? SAME CRIME.

I can't see where paying hush money is illegal, so

wouldn't have been better for trump, and perfectly legal, if he had just paid Stormy Daniels directly and not tried to funnel it through bogus "legal expenses"? Michael Cohen's payment to Stormy Daniels was an illegal campaign contribution because it exceeded $2700, and trump was the unindicted coconspirator because he instructed Cohen to do it and reimbursed him for it.

Seems to me he got really bad legal advice from Cohen and really bad accounting advice from Weisselberg.

Who else loves Canada and would move there in a heartbeat

if given an invitation?

They're not perfect, of course, but they have it ALL over us in healthcare, guns....

Obviously and massively guilty. Which leads to the question...

Why didn't Garland prosecute this case?

I object to this asshole getting a police escort through NYC traffic.

Hasn't he inconvenienced the public enough already?

Jill Biden wants to invite both LSU and Iowa basketball teams to the White House

OK, now, I love Jill Biden. Fantastic lady. Fantastic first lady.

But come on, now. This is not how this is supposed to work.

I'm an LSU grad and Baton Rouge resident, but I would have stated the same if Iowa had won. Hopefully the Iowa team will decline.

Garland should have done this a long time ago.

I'm not entirely happy.
